Sweet stories about friendship and caring for others--often animals! A very accessible series for beginning-to-read chapter books. This series hooked my somewhat reluctant to read daughter, who saw her twin sister gobbling up chapter books, to read more than one chapter at a time! She is very proud of her reading abilities now which has given her the confidence to move on to other chapter books and series.

Review      With the expectation and goal of helping and contributing and to facilitate the design process for (educational) software and (instructional) applications, I wrote this book.     I formulate the following opinion about this book: This book constitutes a practical guide (step-by-step handbook) for creating interactive video software in Flash format, which incorporates multimedia elements and operates on Windows and Mac as a desktop application or web app.     The author

From the Author The main contribution of the book lies in the COVERAGE OF THE GAP between THEORY and PRACTICE, i.e. between the educational theories of 'Instructional Design', of 'eLearning', and of 'Multimedia Teaching', on the one hand and on the other, the educational practice in 'classrooms', in 'computer laboratories', and in 'digital learning environments', during the practical implementation of the educational slogan'Learning by Doing', byeducators, teachers, instructors, and trainers.       The book focuses on the case of Interactive Multimedia Video in Flash Format, which is obtained from Screen Recording. However, whenever it is stressed that, this is only one of the possible cases of creation of Video Files: the case associated with the Screen Recording of Excel or/and SPSS. In this case, each Video Clip within the framework of PBL and PBLEs, is a Worked-Out Example of Problem, with the possibility of an easy conversion to PBL Problem. Therefore, the 'platform' proposed by the book (i.e. the Interactive Multimedia Video Application in Flash), also applies to other forms of VideoClips: Video from Video Camera, Video from Simulations, Video from moving or from static images, etc.      Finally, relating to this book, it is worth noting:

I really liked the way the book is formatted. The author's instructions are clear and to the point. I appreciated the print screens placed strategically in the book that made it easier for me to understand the tasks the author had outlined. Previously Waiting for Revenge By Deborah I love this book, over the years I've read it again and again, you know when sometimes you find a book that's just it, it's one of my go to books if I don't know what I fancy reading then I have my favourites which I turn to.It's the story of a happily married couple Mandy and Mike who go round to a friends one night and she catches him having sex with his friends slutty girlfriend Lana, she's struggling since they have two children Ben and Rachel, can she throw away what's been a happy marriage with a great guy she loves, but can she get over the fact that he's cheated on her and continues to cheat on her, how can she continue to live with someone who would do that to her. On top of this, the day after the cheating she meets Adam a fantastic guy who makes her feel like there could be life after divorce, Adam makes no secret of the fact that he's been watching her run past his house and that he's very interested in her so, should she stay married, confront Mike and get a divorce or get revenge....

By Smitten with Reading My Review:Usually I hate to read books that involve an unhappy marriage, but something about the description of this story drew me in and I am so glad that it did. I really loved this book. Honestly, I did not put it down from the time I started it until I turned the last page. I just couldn't see how this was all going to turn out for everyone especially knowing that Adam was hiding something and not knowing what exactly it was although I had a pretty good idea.This book starts on Thanksgiving day with Mandy out walking. She's just walked in on her husband, Mike, and friend having sex on top of a car in the garage and is completely shocked, completely angry, and at a total loss of how to react now. On her walk, she meets Adam. He's been watching her for a couple of months while she walks and has finally gotten brave enough to introduce himself.The book covers the next month of these people's lives. Mandy quickly decides that her marriage is over, but she's not going to act on that until after Christmas. Mike and Mandy have two kids, ages 10 and 12 and she doesn't want to ruin their holiday with talk of a divorce. In that time, they stay living in the same house and are seeing a marriage counselor (who hits on Mandy when Mike's not around), but she's sleeping in a separate bed. She's also getting MUCH closer to Adam during that time period.Reading this book was a lot like watching a car wreck. Mandy is completely blown away by Mike's betrayal. They've been married for 13 years and have had a good marriage. They even had sex the morning of his betrayal. She waffles between anger and wanting to give merit to those happy 13 years, but how could she ever trust him again. As a married woman, it's hard to watch her with this struggle. As simply a woman, it's even harder to see her even think about giving him a second chance. It's a tough book and very emotional, but it is so good! It's extremely well-written. You can't help but feel for all of these characters....yes, there were even moments when I felt bad for the jerk, Mike. It's a bad situation and the author shows the myriad of emotions that go with that. BUT even more importantly, she never made it a depressing book. You are caught up in the drama of it all, but never once do you feel like Mandy isn't going to overcome it all...you just are never quite sure HOW she's going to do that.It was really really good and I truly loved the way that it ended. This book may not be one that I would normally pick up, but I'm so glad that I did today. This is the kind of book that strikes a deep emotional chord and sticks with me for a few days. I love that kind of book!I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

From the Author I decided to write this book as I heard common thinking and emotional responses from clients regarding their hurt and victimization that was keeping bound to relationship patterns that kept them in the hurtful relationships .  My purpose in writing this book is to provide a  road map to identify, heal and repair hurt.I am excited to address the bullying issues found in schools and a way to manage this growing challenge  My experiences with bullies as a child helped in my identification of steps to address this challenge. I am excited to offer others some tools to find emotional stability and well-being through their understanding of their role in the outcomes in relationship challenges.  I address the role of emotional health in other relationship healing and parenting books.

About the Author Jay is the President of Relationships Unlimited, LLC.  Relationships Unlimited LLC is a company that provides personal development and relationship advice resources to assist others in meeting relationship challenges. Jay Krunszyinsky has worked with adults, children, parents, and families in various coaching roles. Terrific practical guide to moral wisdom By Dr Andrew Knock Jay Krunszyinsky has written a passionate book on practical morality, in which he maps out a system to help develop core personal virtues by making acts of atonement whenever we fail other people. He is not concerned to argue the merits of his system against other forms of morality, but aims to convince by the clarity of his system and the wealth of illustrations he provides for different stages of personal development.Jay Krunszyinsky's core approach to moral issues is broadly that described as 'virtue ethics,' that is, consideration of the chief virtues which contribute to a fulfilled and purposed life. He has clearly brought great insight to helping children and adults face profound scarring and damage, and find ways of healing. In the early part of the book he develops a thorough system for schools to use in order to "define behavioral expectations and allow children to evaluate their successes and problems." Teachers and parents will find this a valuable tool to reflect on, either applying it or measuring their own methods alongside it.Building on this foundation of rationality, Jay introduces what his book's title is about - saying Sorry, "making atonement." I felt it would be a book easy to connect to because marriage , divorce , kids is such a reality and never easy. I have not been through the struggles Riley has with her marriage BUT drug addiction and abuse have been in my life by way of family members and exes so I have watched it rip through and destroy. I fell for River right from the start , OMG that little boy was special and I was so invested in his growth. Liam was probably my favorite character in the story. Riley was just as I assumed she would be, making dumb choices and although she wanted the right thing she had a hard time pushing through her own walls to get them. The one thing I would have loved , as weird as it may seem , would have been some POV by way of Aaron. You get the story from Riley but to lead up to the major event it would have been nice to have snippets from his mind to alert us to just how intense he was. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time regardless due to his threats and just wondering where and when we would meet up with him. This book had fear , devastation , hope , love , HOTNESS and a very sweet and happy ending. It was a quick read and I enjoyed Liam and River so much !! Riley was plagued with an impossible situation and luckily for her a knight in shining armor rode in by way of River's speech therapist and brought her back to life. Liam not only saved Riley and River but he saved himself by finally finding love again. He was amazing and to boot he plays guitar and sings !! I just cannot say enough about him. LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM​Definitely worth the read and I am interested to see what else this author has to offer.

I thought for sure this was a book I was going to fall in love with. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Now before you sigh... This isn't a bad book. It actually is a good book, but it wasn't a book that I fell in love with like I had hoped.The story overall is a good one. I just couldn't focus on it. It moved slow for me. Although the writing is good, it just seemed to be missing something for me.I was hoping to need some emotional therapy after reading this. However, being the tough cookie I am, I didn't. I am very saddened over this. This story has emotional wreck written all over it. I just didn't receive it like I hoped. However, many others seem to have. It just may be me.Overall, this is a well written book that I think many will like if not love. Don't necessarily count this book out just because it didn't do it for me. Not every book is for everyone!

Well, yes. BUT. Who cares? It was all about the journey. You slowly see Riley's character emerge from the darkness. Sure, she makes some mistakes... but who doesn't? She learns from them and turns her life around for the better.Liam. He is just the perfect book boyfriend. He has his own 'demons', but when he first lays eyes on Riley.... it's done. I recommend this book to people in all walks of life By Amazon Customer This book is as real as real can get.Kudos to the author for the courage to address such a difficult topic in such an unconventional writing style.Let's face it, abuse happens in both "Christian" and "Non-Christian" homes alike, it does not discriminate.This book is an eye opener and has the potential to awaken the one who has been lulled into a "Non-existent" state through verbal abuse, whether married or contemplating marriage.There is an explicit scene in the book but it happens between a husband and a wife. I wouldn't call that pronographic.The scene enabled me to understand how over time verbal abuse can escalate to physical abuse even within the confines of marriage.This book isn't meant to give advice, it's meant to give hope and it does just that!I recommend this book to people in all walks of life.

Dunn Even though I personally know the author and his family, I would have loved this book if I had not known them. This is a story of farm life in the South during the depression and wars. Though the father of six girls never had much money, he was one of the richest men in Tennessee. He had the richness of the love of his family. He has written a chronology of events in the lives of one rural Tennessee family over the decades as though he had been present with a recorder and a camera. There is such richness of detail that it took my breath away. I didn't doubt the authenticity of one conversation or one small incident that took place over the years.What makes this book so amazing is not that it's about an extraordinary family, but that the author has shown us what is so extraordinary in one average family's decency, commitment, hard work, and unconditional love.I highly recommend this book to anyone who can appreciate how family bonds can help us not only overcome trials, but bring us the highest joy.Cheryl Peyton

It comes straight from the love of Christ shining through Cliff & Evona in the battle they waged against cancer. God used their family through this battle. Cliff witnessed to so many people & Evona is still going strong! What an amazing love story to be able to read.

I know the ending is not what we wanted but God is Faithful. This is such an encouragement to see how he and the family choose Faith and God answered them by working in there life in miraculous ways. It is so wonderful to see God working in peoples lives in this way. It gives HOPE that GOD does LOVE us and wants to work in our lives. I am not saying that this road was easy nor one I would wish on anyone but if you are going through a trial this book will provide you a perspective that not to many people can give.

She's Miss June on the school calendar, homecoming queen, and big glamor girl Barbie. However when her long time boyfriend Warner breaks up with her because he needs a girlfriend that is more "serious" and can help him become president Elle decides she is going to prove herself very serious and follows Warner to law school. However from the first day Elle can tell Law School isn't really the place for a blonde. Plus she finds out that this totally unstylish, super serious looking Sarah is now engaged to Warner. However when things finally settle down Elle begins to find that law school isn't so bad. When she takes on the job as summer intern for Christoper Miles she finds that she is beginning to forget Warner. Now her new focus in life is this case about 23 year old Brooke Vandemark who is accused of murdering her 73 year old husband Heyworth Vandemark. It seems the only witness of the crime is Heyworth's 24 year old daughter Chutney. In the end Elle comes through with a trick any Cosmo girl would know to solve the case!I absoulety love this book!! A Must-Read By Erika Sorocco Elle Woods is devastated when her boyfriend Warner Huntington III breaks up with her, instead of proposing (like she had thought). Now Elle is on a mission to become a wholesome girl like Warner wants. Which is why she's on her way to Stanford Law School. It's now up to her to break Warner and his new fiance up, and claim the man she came for. But while at Law School she realizes she likes it very much, and even starts the BLDF (Blonde Legal Defense Fund).I recommend this book to all fans of the movie "Legally Blonde". While the book isn't exactly the same as the movie, it does resemble it, and is just as hilarious.

The author states that the book is based on her experiences at Stanford law, but as a recent law school grad, I find the book unbelievable at some points. For example, Elle takes all of her classes pass/fail. As far as I know, the American Bar Association doesn't allow first year classes to be taken pass/fail. And as helpful as outlines are, they are no substitute for class attendance (which is required in law school, or you fail automatically) and studying!The movie portrays Elle as a smart girl who works hard to get what she wants, the book portrays her as more of a spoiled brat who gets lucky.... I much prefer the former! Movie Elle wants to help everyone, book Elle only wants to help herself and other blondes.If you have seen the movie, you don't need to read the book, the movie is better.

Worley As a mathematics instructor - albeit in a secondary context - and a former “gifted” student, I was excited to receive an advanced copy of this collective of lessons and activities to review. (I received a free copy through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program, but no other compensation.) I hoped to use some of the lessons and activities in this book to help my older students regain the number sense they didn’t develop in elementary and middle school classrooms dominated by calculator use. I appreciate the emphasis on logic and collaborative activities. I tell my students who complain that they don’t need math to treat the class as a mental discipline - a way of learning how to think clearly and explain precisely. The Standards for Mathematical Practice are a good tool for explicating this attitude and lending it a certain amount of weight. (See, kids - it’s not just your wacky teacher who thinks this.) The exercises in this book were clearly written with that approach to the study of mathematics in mind. Exercises hinge on logical interpretation of data and frequently ask students to understand and critique their classmates work. The first lesson in the book in an outstanding example of this approach. Students create number puzzles for their classmates. The challenge is to figure out where to place the mathematical operators in order to produce a certain answer. Not only is the activity cerebral and collaborative, but the directions to have students to use notecards to arrange and rearrange numbers and operators would be a boon to “twitchy” students who need something to engage their hands during class. Another near perfect lesson (3.1) has students measure the flight of paper airplanes using different fractions of a meter and then compare the distances achieved. If that isn’t putting the competitive nature of kids to work - I don’t know what is. Not all of the lessons in this collection achieve the high standards of the ones above. The directions for the instructor are vague. I was attracted to an exercise that had students create an alternative to the Arabic numeral system in order to explore the meaning of place value (2.1). However, I couldn’t figure out if students were supposed to be translating back and forth between their representations and the conventional Arabic system or how one student was supposed to “decode” another student’s system of symbols.The problem of vagueness extends to the construction of the questions. Some exercises that attempt a “real-world connection” lack sufficient detail to be engaging - in fact, the lack of detail makes the exercise confusing. For example, one lesson asks students to graph outcomes from an undescribed “number game” to explore functions (1.2). The problem includes a scenario about students occupying themselves during an unexpected snow day, but gives no information about the game. Students can still do the work the lesson asks - observing trends and writing function rules, but I was distracted by nagging questions. What are the rules of this number game? Which boy is winning - the one with higher points or lower points? Students - especially gifted students - are likely to share in this distractions.While the flaws in some lessons detract from the overall quality, overall, this book has quite a few good lessons and activities. I look forward to testing out a few in some of my secondary classes, and based on my memories of being gifted and bored in late elementary and middle school, I think the material here is on target for that sub-group.

Some problems were easier than I expected for a gifted 5th grader but others were either right on track or a little more difficult. I liked that it helped me as a parent understand a bit more about the common core way of doing math.​

About the Author Tracey was born in South Wales and now lives in Gloucestershire with her husband, two daughters and a menagerie of animals. She is a trained teacher and used to run specialist literacy program in schools before becoming a full-time writer. Alison Edgson was born in County Down in Northern Ireland. When she's not illustrating children's books, Alison spends most of her free time chasing her chickens out of the vegetable garden and brushing the cat, and loves walking her dogs in the countryside.

By Sunshine on a Rainy Day SUMMARY: In this sequel to I Want My Mommy, Arthur is spending the day at home with his dad. Arthur tries to build a castle by himself, but things are not working out well. He calls for his dad who comes and shows Arthur how to build a castle that will be strong enough to play in. Arthur plays by himself for a little while until he falls and calls for his dad. Dad comes and tells him it's okay. The two then go to the park and play together on the play castle at the playground. When they return home, Arthur makes a crown for his dad because "Every knight needed a king for his castle." He presents his crown and gets a tight hug in return.ILLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are big, soft and colorful making them perfect for the youngest viewers. Arthur's cuteness factor is a 10 out of 10!REVIEW: After reading I Want My Mommy, I was so excited when this second book finally came out. I may have even liked it a bit more than the first book. I can't decide! I loved watching the close relationship between father and son. Arthur's dad, instead of putting him down for his failures, lifts him up and shows him ways to be successful. Arthur's dad takes time to play with him, but also spends time getting his own work done. I love the part in the beginning where they say, "Knights together?" "Knights forever!" and at the end where they say, "Hugs together?" "Hugs forever!" This is a wonderful warm and fuzzy story for dad and son to read together.AGE RECOMMENDATION: Age 3-6 Highly recommend!

It's hard when you're small though, and sometimes only a grown-up's help will do. When things are not going Arthur's way, he calls in the big guns: Daddy! His castle is repaired, a trip to the playground becomes and adventure and some hugs are the nest medicine. Arthur discovers that the real heroes are the ones who are there every day, not just the ones in fairy tales.Using the beautiful illustrations of Alison Edgson, Tracey Corderoy brings the world of Arthur, the tiny mouse, to life in this fantastic picture book. The colours and detail in the drawings are exquisite and while I did not have a pre-schooler to read this to, my older schoolkids got a real kick out of it. There were plenty of oohs and aaaghs while they truned the page and they adored reading about Arthur's day. The story is nice and simple and shows kids that Daddys can be around for fun times as well as Mammys. The idea that Arthur looks to his father in times of need is a sweet concept and their hugs are guaranteed to make kids hug their parents nice and tightly when reading along with this charming book.Sure to be a firm favourite at bedtime, and inspire some great castle-building in many gardens!Ideal for ages 1-4.
