Book review by Marcy Ross By Marsay Wells-Strozier Keira & Me is a richly detailed story about an African American girl learning about Homonyms and Homophones. She is the inquisitive student and her aunt is her teacher. Her classmates are some interesting characters with unusual names. For instance, Yum Yum is a cotton-top Tamarin, an endangered species from Central America. She learns where Central America is on the map. She also learns a little Spanish.Keira and her classmates created a rap-song using words that were homophones and they added a beat to it. They were so excited to perform their new song and beat. Young readers are going to be entertained by reading and or listening to this tale.Marsay Wells-Strozier's story is colorful and it demonstrates that learning can be so much fun.Visit the website at: www.keiraandme.info
