Great introduction to the Stinson Wellness Model By Jemmagirl Reading Aligning Life is like entering a conversation with David Stinson; the tone of the writing is gentle and invites engagement. In fact, the second half of the book, working with the model, is set up as a series of discussions rather than didactic chapters. Each wellness 'pillar' (purpose, balance, congruence, sustainability) is presented individually along with worksheets, all unpacked within the overarching framing of body, mind, and spirit.I have used the Stinson Wellness Model in nursing education, nursing research, and in clinical practice. The model is a comprehensive approach that is easily modified to fit specific patient groups and individuals. I am always concerned that most wellness models tend to be fixated on physical prowess--which immediately precludes many patient groups. Not so the Stinson Wellness Model; wellness is a step by step movement rather than a static point. Everyone, regardless of diagnosis or time of life can be moving toward intrinsic wellness. Surprisingly, this deceptively simple approach to wellness has successfully been used by individuals, groups, and organizations.I highly recommend this little volume as a great start to learning the Stinson Wellness Model and continuing your own wellness journey step by step!
