The flagship book of Little Crab Edutainment is "Little Byron", the first in a Mandarin-and-English children’s series written by Rebecca Juetten and illustrated by Mikaila Maidment. Byron is a little boy who plays dress-up and goes on imaginative adventures with his three pets - one dog and two cats! The bilingual books offered by Little Crab Edutainment are intended for younger children but can also be read and enjoyed by older children or adults who are at a beginning level in their language studies. Find Little Crab Edutainment on Facebook and Twitter to learn more. As this series continues, friends of Byron will be introduced who reflect the multicultural mosaic of children in North American classrooms. Each book in the series also introduces a new piece of lexis; for example, the target language in “Little Byron” is the numbers 1 to 10. The English, Mandarin, and Pin Yin are shown all on the same page rather unlike most other bilingual books, which often separate the languages onto different pages. (Pin Yin is a system of transcribing Chinese characters so that Mandarin learners can pronounce them: Pin Yin = “to spell sound”). The Mandarin is displayed with Simplified Chinese characters as opposed to complex Traditional characters and was not translated after the English but rather “written alongside” it by the author, who speaks both languages. The audio album "Little Byron - Tutorial and Narrations" is a set of pronunciation tutorials and narration tracks offered to accompany "Little Byron", the storybook. Visit iTunes to select individual tracks, or visit CDBaby.com to purchase the full album at a discounted price!

By MARSHA BELL As a preschool teacher and lover of children's literature, I am in love with this book. The illustrations are wonderful with characters that both parents and children will immediately bond with and love. I also like the theme of these stories as a way of introducing both parents and children to the Chinese language and it's characters. In future books I would love the print to be larger for both the parents and children's benefit
