A must read for those going within and feeling that they are "awakening" By Kim Jackson Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. For this, there ARE messengers between the Worlds in serving and protecting the people as the people wish; and even if they cannot comprehend~there is ALWAYS something we can ALL take away from another's personal experience. For those who are strong enough to stand against the criticism and ridicule, I commend you. As ridicule is the last argument of a FOOL. Michael gives a personal account of his awakening, which is to be commended~NOT criticized or ridiculed. There have been activation's for some time now, just as the Hopi Rainbow Prophecy and many other religious creeds have foretold. The Matrix is a system that shapes realities around you based on your own feelings, fears, desires, expectations, beliefs, emotions and thoughts and as the old 3D matrix system has been crumbling for sometime, it is now giving way to the new 5D matrix system and new earth of the future that is no longer EGO based and whether most human are unable to comprehend this or not~IT'S HAPPENING. This is the REAL MATRIX that Michael has AWAKENED to, which he has chosen to share in simple terms with the world, and I commend him in doing so. ANY true warrior knows: Strength of Character is the ability to overcome resentment against others to hide the hurt feelings and forgive quickly. "It isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's more about how much you can handle AFTER you've been broken."

By Laurennyc This book was a gift from me from a dear friend who had the opportunity to experience Michael Evan’s kindness first hand.... I will forever cherish it. Michael Evans is an extraordinary individual. His act of kindness defines what it is to be a selfless human being.Michael Evans' book, The Matrix hit home for me. I too was living in the same matrix. At the age of 9, I went through a horrific and life changing event that has forever shaped my life. I lost my father through another's act of violence. This tragic event caused “anxiety” and “depression” that plagued my life for much of my existence. I was deemed clinically depressed by a psychiatrist.... The medical professionals chosen by society to deem one acceptable or unacceptable by society's standards. I was put on innumerable anti-depressives and anti-anxiety medications. I was ignoring my consciousness by numbing it with pharmaceuticals that allowed me to remain hostage in this matrix. After 8 long of medicating myself to escape I finally questioned my existence. That was the day I decided to free myself and conscious.... to finally take a step into the afternoon of my life. I had a spiritual awakening that led me to seek professional help through therapy and meditation. This was not an easy task... I often remind myself of the road I had to take to finally arrive to my matrix.I purchased a copy to share as all proceed go to a children's charity.

Mr. Michael Evans explains all of the "negative" lies that we have been told all our lives that play over and over again in our subconscious. He said that these lies are, of course, wrong, but we have to do the work to reprogram our subconscious to think positivvely. We can't be envious of what other people have. We have to love everyone: that takes the negativity out of the picture. He has been doing this for a very long time. I recommend, no.... suggest, that you read it as soon as possible, so you can change your thinking to change your entire life for the better! I believe in him and I am going to follow exactly what he says. I opened my mail and received a $1 bill immediately after reading his book. It is not much, but it was an immediate response to Mr. Evans advice! This is just confirmation that this does work and is just the start of things to come!Thank you to Mr. Michael Evans and Word-Slinger for giving me an ARC copy of this book to read and give my honest review.

From USA Today and NYT best-selling author Cora Brent....

Those dirty-talking, hard-loving, sexy alpha triplets are back! This time it's Chase Gentry who has met his match in the latest story filled with gritty realism, steamy bedroom antics, and the unbreakable bonds of love and brotherhood. May be listened to as a standalone.

Stephanie... As a bookie, I know more about money lines, pay sheets, and point spreads than any six men. I always thought I was in control until a terrible betrayal taught me otherwise. The price was my dignity, and I can't bear to make any more mistakes. Chase Gentry figured it would be easy to get to me. He thought I was like every other girl, just dying to spread wide for him. I knew it was a rotten gamble to get mixed up with a guy too smart and too hot for his own good. Chase is destined to be as much trouble to those around him as he is to himself. But it's too late. He's already won my heart. Everyone around us insists that we're wrong for each other - too intense, too explosive. Everyone might be right.

Chase... Gentry men aren't supposed to be very bright. We're big. We're brutal. Women can't wait to invite us inside. I know I can have any one of them I want any time I want. It seems unlikely that some bad-tempered chick and her snotty attitude would keep my interest, but here it is. Stephanie has no idea what she does to me. I want that girl in more ways than I can even talk about. It should have been enough to have her and be done with it. But no matter how volatile we are together, it's never enough. To hell with anyone who objects. I'm not letting her go.

Warning: The third book in the best-selling Gentry Boys series contains explicit language, sexual situations, and violence that may be upsetting to some.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Love the Gentry Boys! By BookJunky I really enjoyed this series. I would definitely recommend starting with Draw and reading the books in order. The connection between these three brothers is so well written. You don't doubt how strong their ties are to one another. Reading how each of them finds "the one" and watching their relationships develop was worth the lack of sleep I suffered from late nights of reading. The sex is steamy and the dialogue is funny, hot, and dirty (those boys have mouths on them!).These are three young men who have had a terrible childhood and you just can't help but root for their happily ever after.I'm looking forward to reading their cousin, Declan's, story.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The third installment does NOT disappoint! I think you'll love the Gentry Boys! By Darlene Tallman In the first two books, Chasyn (Chase) appeared very light-hearted and devil-may-care. However, it stands to reason that if Cord and Creed had deep-seated issues from the abuse suffered, so would he.An ambush in book one left Chase dependent on painkillers. Confronted by his brothers, who told him, in essence, that they would go into any abyss to get him out, he chose to enter rehab. Now clean, he is enrolled in college, using his amazing intelligence for "good".And that's when she catches his eye. Stephanie Bransky. Truly's (Creed's girlfriend) roommate. From the start, there is something different about her. He doesn't know what it is, just that he wants it.Stephanie moved clear across the country to escape a painful past - mother dead, brother murdered, second brother in the wind, father in prison. In order to pay her way through college, she becomes a bookie. And, she's good at it until she makes a bad judgment call that ends in her complete and utter humiliation.Chase pursues Stephanie. Stephanie pushes him away. He has secrets he is keeping from her; she's worried about a video. Will they get past their pasts? Will Chase, like his brothers, get his happily ever after?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A good series. By K. K. I will admit, when I first saw this series, I was concerned. Underground fighting is such a rage right now and while these men all seem to be beasts in the ring and the bed, they don't all have dimension. However, this series is really more about love and beating the odds. The best book by far is Chase's because it shows what it's like when you're afraid you won't overcome your past, your name, the demons you've lived with your whole life. Chase is weak -- not because he's an addict, but because deep down he wants something he knows he can't have and it makes him weaker and less sure of himself. He wants a family, he wants his parents to love him, unlike his brothers who just want to forget. Chase can't forget and that's what makes him so real. I adored his boyish charm and his rocky relationship with Creed which said it all: you don't always like your family, but they are most often the people who make you feel whole, even if they break your heart. Steph, well, I loved her vulnerability and her ability to carry a baseball bat and beat the crap out of people. I adore a girl and her f bomb and I found her insecurities to be so real that I was feeling them all with her. Overall, I liked the book and I'm happy with the series.

If nothing else it's easily my favorite book in the new Star Wars canon and perhaps my favorite Star Wars book in general. As someone who grew up on the old extended universe, that's saying a lot. But I mean every word of what I've said. Lost Stars is everything I ever wanted from a Star Wars book. The author does a fantastic job of inventing her own story while fitting it seamlessly into the Star Wars narrative. She creates two interesting characters from a new, unique planet and culture. And then she takes us through their lives from the first time they meet at eight years old until the period shortly after Return of the Jedi when they are well into their twenties. They provide a refreshingly unique perspective on Star Wars, giving us insight on what it was like to be apart of the Empire when Alderaan was destroyed and how difficult it can be to balance duty with what is right. We meet new characters and old favorites in scenes that have real substance rather than coming off as merely fan service. We see the relationship between Thane Kyrell and Ciena Ree grow and evolve over years and insurmountable odds. It's Star Wars but it's more than that. It's a qhole new story that goes deeper than we have seen before on screen.I really love this book. I know that there are people out there who hesitate to read it because it's been shoe-horned into the YA genre and because it's got a heavy emphasis on Thane and Ciena's relationship. But that really shouldn't stop people from picking this book and reading it. Everyone's talking about Aftermath by Chuck Wendig but, really, this is the book we should be talking about. This is the book that deserves credit for starting the post-ROTJ canon off strong.

103 of 105 people found the following review helpful. For a far broader audience than they're aiming for... By Adam Selzer In short: this is the best Star Wars book I've read in ages. Marketed as YA (though the characters are adults for most of it), it should appeal to a far broader audience. It was more about what went on Jakku than the other books released on "Force Friday," as well.Longer: When Star Wars was released in 1977, part of its appeal was that you knew who to cheer for and who to boo. After years of movies dominated by ambiguity and flawed heroes, this update of a silent melodrama seemed positively refreshing. But nothing's ever that black and white - there were (assuming for a moment that these characters were "real") human stories behind every TIE fighter that blew up. Not all of the billions of Imperials who didn't manage to jump ship and join the rebels were evil. Some were caught up in something that they misunderstood, that give them no choice, that lied to them.LOST STARS begins with two characters drawn to the new Empire and all of its promises as children. The "Romeo and Juliet" comparisons people toss around are overstating things; their familiars aren't wild about their friendship, but it's a very minor issue in the overall book. As one quickly becomes cynical to the Empire and one tries to stay loyal, the two journey through the Star War trilogy (and a year or two beyond) on the fringes in sort of the same way that Forrest Gump journeyed through 20th century American history (or perhaps the way Phineas and Ferb journeyed through the periphery of " New Hope.)" But the references to stray lines and events in the original films never feel forced - the characters' stories are brilliantly and organically woven into the saga. You understand the different choices they make, the risks they take, and what's going on in their head even when you disagree with them. The romance between them (which lurks in the background most of the time) feels far more realistic than most of the romance in Star Wars books. Without delving into spoilers, by the end of the book their relationship seems well-worn and lived in that's sort of rare in fiction (it's a common joke in the YA world that the last line of every book should be "and then they probably broke up six months later.") These are interesting characters with backgrounds and stories of their own, and their relationship is complicated, just like real relationships are.And all of this, throughout the politics and the relationships and cameos from better-known characters, manages to be great fun. The 500+ pages went by quickly. Honestly, I sometimes think Star Wars just does't translate to books very well - without the visuals and the score, some of the impact is gone, and sometimes I feel like I'm just reading a lot of tech talk and sound effects. Often I just skip around and read the main plot points to see what's going on in the galaxy at this point in the timeline. That was never an issue here. I just wished there were more of it.This book may get lost in the shuffle; it's being marketing to an audience (YA) that's narrowed considerably since the Harry Potter era, when there was more crossover with people who normally read from the adult section. But when the dust settles and we've had time to sift through all the new Star Wars material that's come with the Force Friday deluge, Lost Stars will stand up as a high point. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a YA writer myself and I do know the author. If you want to brush off my thoughts because of that, fine. And I can sympathize with those who mourn the loss of the expanded universe books from the last 25 odd years - I can remember long days of debates with my friends about what might happen in the third Zahn book when it came out. But I like season 1 of "Rebels" more than I liked pretty much any new Star Wars stuff that had come out since 1983, and Lost Stars joins my list of reasons to think the new canon will be worth it. Give it a shot and enjoy the ride. I can even entertain a hope that it could get more people to check out the YA section again and see if there's anything else good in there...

By Tobar Dobinson Don't skip it just because it's in the young adult category, or because you were disappointed by Aftermath!Even with focus on new "minor" characters, this feels like Star Wars, and it ties together important scenes, locations, and motivations. And it's fun!My only "complaint" about this book is that it hasn't been marketed as strongly as Aftermath, probably because it's been relegated to the "Young Adult" category. But there's really nothing in it (and nothing that it's missing) that should keep any not-so-young adults from reading it. It's a solid, well-written story that takes the reader through the original trilogy from the point of view of new characters, and ends up at the very beginning of the "aftermath" that will eventually lead to The Force Awakens. Thanks for the nice surprise!

Russell the Sheep, by Rob Scotton

From School Library Journal PreSchool-Grade 1–Russell can't sleep. While the other sheep are dozing off, he ponders the problem of insomnia. Is he too hot or too cold? Perhaps a better place would help. When nothing works, he tries counting things. He starts with his feet, and then moves on to the stars ("six hundred million billion and ten")–twice. Finally, the quintessential cliché comes to him, and he counts sheep. Russell nods off just as the new day dawns and the others awaken. Scotton makes a captivating debut with this comical tale. He illustrates it with a witty, engaging, and fluffy character bathed in calming blue hues. With his wide-eyed, startled expression; froggy sidekick; and animated, blue-and-white-striped nightcap, Russell will win the hearts of readers, who will want to look at the pictures over and over to catch all the clever detail.–Be Astengo, Alachua County Library, Gainesville, FL Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. From Booklist Pres-Gr. 1. Russell is one wide-awake sheep. When the sky grows dark and the other sheep in Frogsbottom Field drift into slumbers, Russell's eyes ("BOING!") are wide open. It's not for lack of trying: he pulls a nightcap over his eyes, removes his wool, and uses a pillow. He tries different locations: a rusty car, a hollow tree, a high branch. And counting things: his legs, the stars, and finally (yawn) sheep. Even young children will relate to Russell's predicament in this simple, satisfying story told with economy and illustrated with wit. The artwork, in a cool palette of muted blues, greens, and grays, is subtle and pleasing. But the real fun here is in the details, from the fat sleeping sheep with their skinny legs pointing skyward to the small, expressive changes in Russell's round eyes. A droll bedtime read-aloud that will amuse those listening as well as those reading Carolyn PhelanCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved

Review “A captivating debut…with a witty, engaging, and fluffy character…Russell will win the hearts of readers. (School Library Journal)“Visually humorous and texturally engaging, this sleepytime tale will win giggles and requests for rereadings at storytime.” (Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books)“A stylish debut.” (Kirkus Reviews)“Silly and warm…package that appeals to a broad age range…[S]imultaneously endearing and comic.” (Publishers Weekly)“A hilarious woolly insomniac…adorably funny…[A] runaway hit.” (New York Times Book Review)

19 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Of Sheep and Sleep By M. Allen Greenbaum Rob Scotton delivers the goods in this funny kids' book about a sheep that can't sleep. While the resolution is somewhat predictable (he counts sheep) and puzzling (why is it that when he remembers to count himself, he falls asleep?), the book is filled with clever humor and enough visual delights to entertain both children and adults. The book shows many sources of insomnia, and approaches them with a reassuring tone, as well as very witty illustrations.Scotton gives his sheep distinctive, quirky characters, and human-like habits. At night, one brushes his or her teeth, and another holds a teddy bear, and many of them fall asleep upside down (wool side up?), all four legs sticking straight up, and with nothing but patchwork quilts to cover them. All except, big-eyed Russell (looking a bit like Gromit the dog, another British import). Oh, how he struggles to sleep-each new solution brings its own unexpected problem: Perhaps it's too light, he reasons, but when he pulls his hat over his eyes, "the really dark scared him." He takes off his wool (!) jammies, thinking that "perhaps I'm just too hot," but the next vignetted picture shows him shivering away. He uses his friend the frog as a pillow, "but the pillow hopped away...hopping mad!" Like a child who attributes the insomnia to something external rather than internal, Russell looks for a better bedroom, outside his home of Frogsbottom Field. He discovers an alliterative list of adjectival objections: The uncovered trunk (completely safe, by the way) is too "cramped," the inside of a tree (filled with bats) is "too creepy," and the branch of a tree is "too crowded" with owls. (He's also too heavy for the branch, but Scotton's aim is fun, not physics. He thought hard about what to do next. "In fact, he thought so hard his hat went ziggy-zaggy!" He begins to count his neighbor sheep. The humorous pictures are nice models for kids, showing that there is no one right way to sleep, even for sheep! One has a teddy bear, one sleeps upside down, a few sleep sheep to sheep, and one even sheep-walks! When he counts the tenth sheep--himself-he "felt a tickle, then a twitch, and then... sound asleep." IN fact, when the other sheep wake up and get ready for the new day, sipping coffee, showering, putting dentures in, reading the paper-Russell is a soundly sleeping sheep.Scotton's soft shades of blue and green provide a soothing background for the big-eyed, naive looking sheep. The illustrations are uncluttered, and as mentioned above, Russell's expressive Gromit-like eyebrows (Gromit is the dog in the "Wallace and Gromit" animations) are non-verbal triumphs. Scotton's expressive sheep characters and the overall design book design draw you into his story. While the denouement could have been a bit stronger, this is an entertaining first effort from Scotton.

It is fun for my 6 year old and short enough to keep the attention of my 3 year old. We read it just before bed and the storyline is perfect to help them get to sleep by counting sheep. The pictures are great and the story is overall just "cute" and fun to follow.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. too cute By Melissa Sack Russell is a sheep who just can't seem to fall asleep one night. He tries everything from counting the stars to locating the perfect sleeping spot. Nothing works for him. That is until he decides to count sheep! This works and Russell is finally asleep. By this time it's morning and all the other sheep are ready to start their day! The cartoon like illustrations are full of detail. Lots for little eyes to llok at while the story is being read! We would recommend this book to others. We feel that the book will entertain children in a wide variety of age groups. There is a little green frog that shows up though out the book. It's fun to discover what the will be up to next!

By Dawn Finbloom As a mom of a teen girl and speaker advocate for Make Good Decisions helping teens and young adults be aware about alcohol, drugs, and other destructive decisions, and medical amnesty laws I view this book as a must read and a must keep nearby for reference. I have read the entire book an I cannot wait for my daughter who is a high school junior to read it too. I will NOT have her wait, as now in high school (even middle school) is the time. I just need for her to have a little free time to read!! Much of what is in this great book also applies to young men. I would love to see a Bulletproof for young men too. Really this is for all middle school girls and through life. I am middle-aged, thought I knew a lot about safety, yet I learned a lot and I want my daughter and her friends to have this knowledge and resource. I highly recommend this book as it can save and improve lives. I plan to buy more copies and give them to my daughter's girlfriends. Thank you Leah Severson for this greatly needed work!!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I enjoyed the testimonials By Bill Oh my! Everyone should read this book. It is a common sense approach to everyday concerns in our life. The author obviously interviewed many people who have experienced some of life's hard lessons. The idea is that we can learn from these experiences and hopefully avoid them in our personal lives. I enjoyed the testimonials. Thanks to the author for all of the research. I ignored one of the lessons even while reading the book. It only underscores the need for reading and re-reading the book. I am going to make this book a gift to my grandchildren and a topic of frequent discussion at family gatherings.

I have three daughters, ages 30, 28 and 25 and I'm sending a copy to each of them to read. When you stop to consider all the dangerous situations young women face, particularly between the ages of 16-24, it's a shame that the information covered in this book is not being taught in the classroom. This books gives parents a tool not only to teach their daughters about being safe and secure, but also to start conversations about subjects that can be difficult to talk about.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This book is a must have! By Jordan I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about Cyberbullying, the prevention of it and how we should respond when it occurs. I checked out this book after seeing the new ABC movie on Cyberbullying. The amount of and quality of information contained in this book is amazing! There are numerous writers which contribute to the content throughout it; this really gives you a look at Cyberbullying from many different points of view. Whether you are a victim of Cyberbullying, bully yourself, educator, parent or just interested in the topic, I would definitely recommend this book to you. I rarely write reviews on Amazon, but this one was worth my time.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Well written and informative By flashed This is a short but to the point ebook on Cyberybullying. Well written and informative. I especially found Chapter Three: What to do if your child is a cyberbully helpfull. Sad to say, but I find myself (my kid) in this situation. I think it will help me alot and point me towards what I need to do.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A good place to start if you want to learn more about cyber-bullying By Jaime Torres This book was a quick read, but I enjoyed it. It covers the essentials of cyber-bullying, which is broken down into 3 chapters. The 4th chapter gives a general scope of information regarding what campaigns have been made to help prevent cyber-bullying, so it’s only important if you’re interested in becoming more involved in this community. Each chapter is short and to the point, which for anyone that needs quick advice this is a good place to start. However, I felt that the book could have given more information on how to handle the situations; while it gives you advice on how to approach the situation, it lacks the depth for those that may be struggling in dealing with more severe cyber-bullying.Overall, I feel this is a good book if the problems have only started, or you may feel that the cyber-bullying has not escalated to extreme scenarios. If this sounds similar to your situation, then this would be the best place to start.

This is a true story about love, loss and healing. What was supposed to be a time of joyous celebration instead turned into one of profound grief when we lost Mason on December 14, 2013. The healing process, while harder than I ever thought was possible, drew us closer to geter as a family and taught me that we are all much stronger than we ever could have imagined. I know my strength came from the Lord. There is now way I could have made it through this without him. The strength, courage, and love exhibited between Jesse and Yvette during this tragic and heart-breaking loss was extraordinary. I have never been so proud of the both of them in the way they conducted themselves and comforted each other during this difficult time. Although he didn't get to take a breath in this life, Mason's very existence has touched our hearts and our lives forever. Masin is our angel in Heaven now and we can't wait until the day comes when we cann all be with him, together again! I hope Mason's story, although heart-breaking, brings strength and comfort to others who may find themselves in similar circumstances.

Tidemann For parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles - anyone who has experienced the loss of a child - this book is a must-read. Wells' poignant story of love and loss tells how she and her family coped with the loss of her grandchild. Especially moving is how the memorial services, which included a Native American ceremony, helped Wells and her family cope with the loss.Every grief professional, counselor, and parent should have this book.

Voodoo, family secrets and a mysterious stranger… When Enza Parker's mother abandoned her and her father fifteen years ago, Enza abruptly stopped spending summers with her grandmother in Louisiana. Her father removed all traces of the two women from Enza's life. Now, thirty-one-year-old Enza is drawn back to Bayou Sabine to attend her grandmother's funeral. In the bayou, memories surge forth, and questions about her past and her family's intentions flood Enza's mind. And an encounter with an enigmatic young man offers a hint of what her future may bring—if she doesn't turn her back on her roots. A prequel to the novel Bayou My Love. If you like the heart and story of novels by Emily Giffin such as The One & Only, but also enjoy the steam of Bella Andre and Melissa Foster’s romance novels, this sexy Southern romance is for you!

Author Interview

What was your inspiration for the Bayou Sabine series? It started with a dare. In a grad school, I wrote a short story and dodged a love scene (and was teased mercilessly). I was writing with a more literary bent so my friend dared me to get out of my comfort zone and write a romance story, saying it would help my other writing too. The more I wrote, the more fun I had, and it eventually turned into Bayou My Love. I fell in love with the characters, and didn't want Enza's and Jack's stories to end with the last page of that novel. So I knew it had to be a series. What do you hope readers will get out of your books? I see mystery, humor, drama, and romance in some combination every day, and those elements are all woven into my books. I love the emphasis on character and language in literary fiction, so I can't help but weave that in as well. But in the end, I just want readers to enjoy being a part of the world I create. I hope they enjoy the characters and their stories as much as I do. How does the mystical and fiery setting of the Louisiana bayous play into your books? Louisiana has an undeniable fire to it—the Bayou heat. It's mysterious and fascinating to me because of its history and blend of cultures, its resilience, its passion for the arts, the connections people have to their histories and the land. There's beauty, mystery, and heartache, just like in every good story--it was the natural setting for Enza's story because she embodies those elements herself, even if she doesn't realize it until she's there. In what order should I read the books? Each book in the Bayou Sabine series can stand alone, but I recommend the following: - Bayou My Love, to get straight to Enza and Jack's story and their steamy romance - Back to Bayou Sabine, for a glimpse of how it all started - Bayou, Whispers from the Past, to see where Enza and Jack's story goes next (Fall 2016) - Beneath Our Skin, a short story you can get for free just by joining my mailing list: http://bit.ly/lauren-news What are your favorite genres to read? My favorites are women's fiction, literary fiction, and paranormal romance. I've spent my life reading books and watching TV shows in a wide variety of genres, so it's no surprise that my books contain elements of each. I respond to certain things in each genre, whether it's wit, an unforgettable love scene, or the zing of a top-notch metaphor. Ultimately, though, the books I love best have characters that thrill and haunt me--and bring me delight.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great prequel to what appears to be a very exciting ... By Melinda My interest is piqued, I want to know what's in store for Enza. She has a lot of loose threads in her life and from this delicious teaser plenty is in store for this young woman from resolving issues over her mother's abrupt departure, to smoothing out the rough edges between her and her father, to a potential romance with or without the suited hunk at Vergie's funeral who she's already lustfully dreamed of, even Donita's palm reading insight, most of all Enza coming to terms with her late grandmothers death and their estrangement. Perhaps all roads will lead back to Bayou Sabine. Great prequel to what appears to be a very exciting and interesting series, the southern setting adds mystique along with a much guarded Enza.

Truthfully, I couldn't put the book down and read it in one evening. I was fascinated and anxiously awaited each eloquent sensual and seductive action in the Bayou. I felt amid elements of Louisiana, and all the small town characters that make that click and work perfect together. The past and present meet bringing lovers and haters together. I look forward to reading the additional books. I give this book 4 stars. I was advanced a copy of this book for an honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Mesmerizing By Ronda I am really into this book. Between the small bit of flipping old houses, and the flashback of memories of a bayou I can't wait to see where this story goes as the small details I can tell are aiming for a more bigger picture. So no complaints thus far...

From New York Times bestselling author and former NFL player Tim Green comes a riveting new stand-alone football novel.

When Ryan's estranged father unexpectedly dies, Ryan learns that he has inherited the Dallas Cowboys. With his new role as owner of this NFL team, Ryan has high hopes that he can be more than just a middle-school misfit. Maybe he can even get off the bench and into the starting lineup of his own football team.

With the help of his friends Jackson and Izzy, Ryan takes advantage of his newfound stardom. He convinces his coach to use a tricky passing offense that plays to Ryan's strengths.

But just when things are looking up, Ryan's nasty stepmother makes a legal play to make her own son the Cowboys' kid owner. With drama heating up both on and off the field, Ryan quickly realizes he may lose much more than just the Dallas Cowboys.

Kid Owner, by Tim Green

From School Library Journal Gr 4–7—Ryan Zinna is crazy about football but is concerned that his small stature and questionable skills will relegate him to second-string status on his middle school team (and second-class status in the school's social hierarchy). Then suddenly, Ryan's world is turned upside down when the father he never knew dies and leaves him partial ownership of the Dallas Cowboys. Becoming an instant celebrity is heady stuff but doesn't help Ryan in his struggle to secure a spot on the team, where his coaches and teammates continue to ignore him. Supported by his mom, his huge (and hugely talented) friend Jackson, and a smart and independent-minded girl named Izzy, Ryan soldiers on, enduring the contempt of the more established players. He also finds that owning a sports franchise is more complicated than he would have imagined, as team officials seem intent on manipulating him to achieve their goal of firing the coach. Ryan takes to the coach, however, who tutors him in the ways of the West Coast offense, which requires not a rifle-armed quarterback but rather one who is smart enough to recognize and exploit weaknesses in the defense. When injuries give Ryan a chance to start a game as quarterback, he uses the coach's offensive scheme to maximize his talents. More challenges lie ahead, however, as the executor of his father's estate reveals that controlling ownership of the Cowboys will be determined by a competition between Ryan and his arrogant half-brother, Dillon. Everything comes down to the performance of the boys in the game between their competing middle school teams. VERDICT With his signature short, cliff-hanger chapters and snappy dialogue, Green has produced another smooth, well-crafted middle grade sports novel.—Richard Luzer, formerly at Fair Haven Union High School, VT

Review “With his signature short, cliff-hanger chapters and snappy dialogue, Green has produced another smooth, well-crafted middle grade sports novel.” (School Library Journal)“Ryan is believably naive and dazzled by his new situation. Sports fans will be, too.” (Booklist)

From the Back Cover

Ryan never knew his dad, nor the fact that he owned the Dallas Cowboys. But when his father dies unexpectedly, Ryan is given a rare and amazing opportunity to be the owner of the NFL team. Not only is this a dream come true, but it gives Ryan a chance to make it in middle school without being a total social misfit. It may also help him rise up off the bench of his football team and break into the starting lineup.

With the help of his friends Jackson and Izzy, Ryan quickly takes advantage of his newfound stardom. He convinces his middle-school coach to use a tricky passing offense that's more suited to his own quick thinking and limited arm strength. But just when he thinks things are looking up, Ryan's nasty stepmother appears and makes a legal play to install her own son as the Cowboys' kid owner. With drama heating up both on and off the field, Ryan quickly realizes he may lose much more than just the Dallas Cowboys.

New York Times bestselling author and former NFL defensive end Tim Green delivers a high-energy story that is a sports lover's dream come true. And with gripping family drama and captivating sports action, readers won't be able to stop turning the pages.

Livingstone (Blake) I bought this for my 7 year old boy who loves all sports- not just football. I wanted a book that was several grades above his level, that I could read to him and that would augment his interest in reading. This one hit the mark! It is so well written and engaging that I even read ahead to the end to see what would happen when my son was at school! That says a lot - because I am a Mom, oil and gas attorney, and not a big fan of football! As a bonus, this ended up being a huge bonding experience for us. He loved our special time reading this book and even wrote about it in his first grade Valentines assignment about love. "....Love is reading Kid Owner with my Mom!"

Filled with all the facts my kids want to know and packed with beautiful pictures--this is a great single volume intro to the geography and history of the U.S. My kids are so proud to know each capital or each state--this captures state birds and flowers and flags too. They learn more each time they open it.

Specifically, we use it for finding state info in the app mentioned at this point, but it's full of great resources for both my children as they grow. It's big but that helps them lay on the floor with it open as they look through. It's nice to be able to teach them how to answer a question without technology and using good old fashioned research which encourages so many more skills and much more critical thinking than typing into google each time.
