Emily is the new sheriff in town, taking over from a retiring Sheriff that was "in" with the MC. Caleb is the new MC President, after the last one stepped down/retired, wanting to get a little more family time and let the younger guys take over.Neither having a clue about the new people in the roles, they are both shocked when they meet for the first time. Part of that is because they are obviously attracted to each other. The story is then about how they learn to work with each other. Now there was some good and bad to this story. The Good. It was fast moving. The sexy time scenes were pretty HOT. I liked the characters. The Bad. Well, it was quite rough writing. There were quite a few mistakes, which meant a few times I had to reread a sentence to make sure I knew what it had actually said. It was so fast, it really could have done with some fleshing out as a story. And it finished at 58%! Now I was gifted this book in exchange for a review, so that doesn't really bother me, but if I'd have paid for it, I'd have been kinda miffed at the fact that it finished at a little over half way through the book. The upside to the early finish is that there was a 13 chapter bonus book at the back.So all in all, despite the "flaws" with this book, it did keep me reading, and like I said had some HOT sexy times, so I'm going to give it a 3. But I'm afraid, I won't be reading more from this series, it's just not for me.

This is the story of Caleb and Emma White. Emma White is taking over as Sheriff in Sack County. She comes from Los Angeles and feels that even though she’s a woman that she can get the job done. However, she gets hassled by one of her own and has been thrown into the middle of an upcoming war. She feels that meeting with both Presidents of the MCs will help keep things civil. She could only dream.Caleb went from VP of the Black Widow MC to the Prez, with Tanner as his VP. He gets ready to meet with the Sheriff, but is surprised to see that it’s a woman and not Mendoza. Right from the start he can tell that Sheriff White is going to be trouble, so he tries to warn her that if she doesn’t work with them, she will not last as Sheriff. Sparks fly between them over time, but they both do their best to ignore it. Can Caleb find happiness in a Sheriff or does an outlaw only deserve club groupies to fill his time? Find out in book 2 of the Black Widow MC series.

Here Caleb is new to being president of the Black Widows MC and Emily is the new Sheriff in town. You have to say that match is funny.Caleb is faced with a challenge as soon as being president was thrown in his lap. The Death Merchants MC which were the Mexicans were causing a lot of trouble. If they were not careful there was going to be a big war break out. Mexicans wanted Black Widows turf. If they were not careful there would be a lot of people killed.Emily has a lot to learn becoming Sheriff. What she is having a hard time seeing is that her and the Black Widows MC want the same. They want to protect the town and keep it safe. Emily has some decisions to make. She must decide what is the greatest evil. She can not help but be attracted to Caleb which does not help any.Caleb just can not get Emily out of his head. He finds out soon that nothing will get his mind off that sexy sheriff. He has to work hard to convince her they are basically on the same side.

The authors persuasively argue that the present cascade of reforms to public education is a consequence of a larger intention to shrink government. The startling result is that more of public education's assets and resources are moving to the private sector and to the prison industrial complex. Drawing on various forms of evidence-structural, economic, narrative, and youth-generated participatory research-the authors reveal new structures and circuits of dispossession and privilege that amount to a clear failure of present policy. Policymaking is at war with the interests of the vast majority of citizens, and especially with urban youth of color. In the final chapter the authors explore democratic principles and offer examples essential to mobilizing, in solidarity with educators, youth, communities, labor, and allied social movements, the kind of power necessary to contest the present direction of public education reform.

Changing Politics of Education: Privitization and the Dispossessed Lives Left Behind, by Michael Fabricant, Michelle Fine

Review This is one of those very rare books on public education and social dispossession that bursts the bounds of its brilliant scholarship and explodes into a soaring call for action. Fine and Fabricant carefully dissect the ideological attack upon the public schools, the selling off of public services to the private sector, the marginalization of professional teachers, and the relegation of low-income students to the status of expendables. But the genius of this book lies in its recognition that disinvestment in the public schools and their replacement by selective boutique institutions are serving the purpose for which they were intended: mightily expanding the inequalities of wealth, darkening the futures of the dispossessed, and cannibalizing what remains of democratic spirit in a corporate society. The book ends with strong proposals -- direct action and the reinvention of the work of unions, among other bold suggestions that are seldom heard from academic authors in this era of retrenchment. The book has an electrifying tone. It creates a sense of urgency. I m profoundly grateful to the authors. --Jonathan KozolThis is an extraordinary book. Not only does it address the futility of corporate style education reform but places schooling in the context of world economic and political ideology and practice. More, Fabricant and Fine refuse to stop at critique. The last chapter is a finely honed series of proposals for what genuine change world look like. A must read for parents, teachers and everyone concerned with the fate of our children and our world. --Stanley Aronowitz, Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Urban Education, CUNY Graduate CenterIn recent years, politicians and the mainstream media have come to equate educational reform with high stakes testing and market mechanisms such as incentives, choice, and competition. The Changing Politics of Education explains why these approaches have risen to prominence and how they undermine learning and constrict educational opportunity. Fabricant and Fine show us the connections between this problematic vision of reform and a broader political and economic agenda that fuels inequality and endangers democracy. This book will be an invaluable tool for scholars, educators, and activists seeking to promote educational and social justice. --John Rogers, UCLA

About the Author Michael Fabricant is Professor in the Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College. Michelle Fine is Distinguished Professor of Psychology, CUNY Graduate Center in New York.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A delightful and captivating read By Wendy First a necessary disclaimer: I was a beta reader for “Where the Heart Lives” by Ariel Davis. While the genre of ‘romance beach reads’ is not my normal reading choice, I found the book captivating and the characters believable and evocative of situations I had been through and people I’ve known. Ariel Davis has woven both a sweet and bittersweet love story; a tale of one woman coming to terms with life and her inner demons. Readers will see shades of themselves – either past or present – in the lead character of Annie and long for a friend like Chris. Scott is the type of man women dream of … and some are lucky enough to find. Not his good looks although that doesn’t hurt; it is his deep understanding of what makes us tick that is so impressive. Many authors are able to do justice to one character or another; it is rare when a new novelist manages to do justice to very diverse characters.“Where the Heart Lives” is a delightful read and one that just might inspire you to strive a bit more for that dream of happily even after despite the upheavals and hurt along the way.

She visits Aurora, thinking it's nothing special...then realizes that her "big city life" might just be killing her. She's stressed, angry, exhausted; the more time she spends on vacation in this quirky town, the more she knows she has to make a change. Don't we all feel that way sometimes, like we have to change course or else? And don't we all wish we could meet a swoon-worthy man like Scott? This is a great read, fun, and a nice little bit of escapism. I want to know more about Aurora and its cast of characters!

Before social media became a thing people use to share photos of their ugly dinner on a dumb paper plate, or post their uninformed opinions on complicated political issues, I got pregnant with twins. It was a drama-filled pregnancy (self-induced, mostly--the drama, not the pregnancy) but isn't every pregnancy dramatic to some degree? This may be the only pregnancy publication which also covers such controversial topics as vegetarianism and Tasers. Come, join me on my walk down memory lane where the Twinkies are scarce but the narcissism plentiful.

About the Author A recovering stay-at-home mom to three children, Cassandra enjoys traveling, golfing, gourmet cooking, hiking, eating cheese, drinking wine, watching Dr. Phil and making fun of people in general (in that order). Oftentimes you can find her contemplating why she is lefthanded when she writes and uses a fork, but can only play sports righthanded. Despite a fear of heights, she once walked all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge. She's also very good at the Heimlich maneuver. She hopes she never needs to either one of those things again. Her awkward childhood and questionable parenting style provide her with material for both her therapy sessions and her writing. She hopes you enjoy her work and that you will let her know if you find a typo. Please tweet at her at @aclevergirl during normal business hours.

Born of Mohawk and Cayuga descent, musical icon Robbie Robertson learned the story of Hiawatha and his spiritual guide, the Peacemaker, as part of the Iroquois oral tradition. Now he shares the same gift of storytelling with a new generation. Hiawatha was a strong and articulate Mohawk who was chosen to translate the Peacemaker’s message of unity for the five warring Iroquois nations during the 14th century. This message not only succeeded in uniting the tribes but also forever changed how the Iroquois governed themselves—a blueprint for democracy that would later inspire the authors of the U.S. Constitution. Caldecott Honor–winning illustrator David Shannon brings the journey of Hiawatha and the Peacemaker to life with arresting oil paintings. Together, Robertson and Shannon have crafted a new children’s classic that will both educate and inspire readers of all ages. Includes a CD featuring a new, original song written and performed by Robbie Robertson.

Hiawatha and the Peacemaker, by Robbie Robertson

From School Library Journal Gr 5 Up—This long overdue and stunningly illustrated work tells the story of Hiawatha, the legendary historical figure who helped form the Great Iroquois Nation. Sparked by fear, anger, and revenge, the five Haudenosaunee Nations are constantly at odds with one another other, fueled by the evil Chief Tadodaho. The Mohawk warrior Hiawatha is consumed by grief and anger, but a Peacemaker appears and enlists him to assist in joining the tribes together under the Great Law. After traveling with the Peacemaker to the different tribes and working toward peace, Hiawatha finds forgiveness within himself. Best known for his work with The Band, Robertson offers a beautifully retold version of this tale, which has been passed down through North American Indian oral tradition. An appended note describes the Iroquois Confederacy and its impact upon the U.S. Constitution, adding authenticity and emphasizing the importance of this tale. The bright colors of Shannon's full-page spreads add depth and volume, giving readers greater understanding. VERDICT All students should know the history of the Iroquois Confederacy, and this book provides the perfect opportunity for them to do so.—Amy Zembroski, Indian Community School, Franklin, WI

However By GreatSwampElmTree Any book that introduces The Peacemaker to humanity is a good thing. However, often left out of the Peacemaker's life is the mention of the woman Jigónhsasee who along with Hiawatha were of equal importance to the Peacemaker. The Peacemaker would always consult with Jigonhsasee as well as with Hiawatha before making any decision. The Peacemaker did not come merely to unite the 5 Iroquois nations. He came to unite all nations on Turtle Island as well as all nations of this Earth and for all to be equally accepted into the Great Law of Peace - in some ways like all states in the United States are of equal status. Unfortunately the Peacemaker's teachings were not followed and hence you had the Tuscarora accepted as the 6th nation in the Iroquois Confederacy as a subordinate member. Many other Native American nations were given only protectorate status with the Iroquois Confederacy. Hence Europeans were able to exploit this. Instead of an Iroquois Confederacy of many nations spread across what is now the U.S. and Canada you had just the 5 nations. The colonists recognized both the strength and weakness of the Iroquois Confederacy and hence adopted many of their principles which really came from the Peacemaker. But they did not llimit power to merely the original 13 states. The Peacemaker is the last great teacher from the Creator who came after Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad. It is his teachings that will one day bring unity and peace to all humanity. John Lennon on his 31st birthday was in Syracuse, New York by Lake Ono ndaga where the Tree of Peace was first raised and the Great Song of Peace was sung by the Peacemaker. 2 days later Lennon released Imagine as a single in the United States. Yes the spirit of the Peacemaker still blesses this land and the entire Earth where his roots of peace have spread to one day blossom.

As a long time fan of Robbie Robertson, I know his remarkable way with words and this book is his story telling at its finest. In addition, the illustrations are gorgeous and enhance the story with colorful and compelling artwork. I wholeheartedly recommend the book without reservation. You will enjoy reading this book to your children and grandchildren as much as they will enjoy listening to you.

Fascinating blend of history and folklore with a timely message about peace and forgiveness By Janet Hamilton Summary: Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Robbie Robertson teams up with Caldecott honor winner David Shannon to tell the story of how the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy was formed. On page one, Hiawatha’s entire family has been killed, and his village burned to the ground. In the midst of his despair, the Peacemaker approaches him, paddling a mysterious stone canoe, and invites Hiawatha to join him on a mission of peace. The Peacemaker brings a message of forgiveness and peace to the Iroquois nations, but his voice is soft and he speaks with a stutter. He needs Hiawatha’s powerful speaking abilities to convince the nations to stop their fighting. Finally, everyone has joined together except the Mohawk, led by the evil Chief Tadodaho. Tadodaho is the one responsible for the destruction of Hiawatha’s village. Hiawatha must look deep within himself to find the forgiveness that is the only way to bring peace to the entire Iroquois nation. Includes an historical note that tells the history behind this story and an author’s note that adds the personal tale of how Robertson came to write this book. Grades 3-8.Pros: David Shannon’s beautiful paintings illustrate this fascinating blend of history, folklore, and mythology. Take some time to appreciate the details of the story which has timely messages about peace and forgiveness.Cons: I found the story confusing until I read the historical note. Some sources recommend this book for ages 4-8, but I don’t think audiences much younger than ten would fully appreciate it.

The Adventures of Elvis the Pug: Lost in Canada, by Daniel David Elles

Review New book combines learning with high-action storytellingPublished: Saturday, December 05, 2015By Jeri Packer, Staff Writer (Blue Water Voice: Voicenews.com)The story takes place in the Blue Water Area. Elvis the Pug is from St. Clair, ends up lost in Sarnia (Canada) and travels through Port Huron and Marine City to get back home. "As they travel, Elvis is in an outdoor classroom, learning math, science and geography, the metric system and moral values. For example, he learns photosynthesis, hibernation, pollination, converting carbohydrates to energy, the environment, the importance of family, etc. Ten percent of the profits go to Macomb County Care House for abused children." Book Brings Canadian Adventure to LifePublished: December 8, 2015By Kristyen E. Demske and Eric Czarnik (CandGnews.com)When Elvis discovers that he has landed in Sarnia, Canada; he begins a journey home, meeting animal friends and learning about life and nature along the way.The book also contains illustrations by Elles' niece, Danica Smith.( a St. Clair Shores 9-year-old), who aid she started drawing animals, dragons and dinosaurs when she was just 6 years old."I started doing freehand at my house and with charcoal and, also, I mostly use regular pencil," said Smith, a fourth-grader at Violet Elementary. When he came into my Nanna's house, he (asked) if I could help illustrate the book, and I'm like, are you kidding? I just agreed and I said yes," Smith said.Smith's teacher at Violet Elementary, Kathy Deckert, is reading the book to her class, so Grady Harp: Amazon Hall of Fame Reviewer says:December 15, 2015.LOST IN CANADA is the first volume in his (Daniel David Elles) new children series. This debut novel is not only a fine story beautifully presented but it also is a stimulus for other youngsters to enter the field of writing and learn the joys of collaboration.  It is a great idea from the innovative Daniel David Elles! EA fine story indeed but what it doesn't share is the splendid assortment of illustrations by youngsters, the use of lessons in geography, the metric system, the landscape and terrain of Canada, mathematics and more all explained by the various animal friends Elvis the Pug encounters on his Canadian adventure. This is an excellent book on every level and an inspiration to adults to share the joys of reading ad communicating and creating with youngsters. Hopefully this is the beginning of many such fine books. Highly recommended. Maggie Knapp: Amazon Reviewer, middle school/high school librarian says:This book is clearly a family affair, with illustrations by talented 4th grader Danica and editing (better than in some self-published novels I have seen!) by 5th grader Dominic. The story follows Elvis the Pug, a likable pup who is carried 50 kilometers (how much is that in miles?) from home and must find his way back. Along the way he learns metric conversion rates, geography (name the Great Lakes) and definitions (hibernation, nectar, passport) from the friendly animals who help him find his way back. This book is a fast read, with an occasionally overtly Christian tone, that would work well for home schoolers, or parents who like their child's reading to have a purpose (along with being fun.) The well-done illustrations add to the story, and the brisk, friendly story telling should be a hit with third and fourth grade readers. I am going to pass my copy on to a friend who oversees a church library. It would work well in some home school curriculums and as a read aloud for any parent who thinks the book sounds interesting. Budding young editors and illustrators should take inspiration from the high caliber of work by both Dominic and Danica."What a wonderful read!" "An excellent educational tool for my 4th grader..." "Elvis the Pug is a winner!"

By Amazon Customer As a retired school administrator and former teacher, I can safely say this is simply a terrific book..It's so hard, nowadays, to get kids to read. However, this author has found an excellent way to encourage children not only to read, but to learn math, science, geography, zoology, etc.And its all done through the adventures of a Pug Puppy! If I were still teaching, this book would be a must for every elementary student.

Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. CHAPTER ONEMoms and GirlfriendsVie for FirstFor most moms, it comes about quite unexpectedly. All of a sudden the little boy who refused to part with his well-worn Toy Story pajamas, despite the fact that Buzz Lightyear’s face had faded to obscurity, is wearing aftershave. And he doesn’t even shave. That child who shrieked “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” when you returned home from work now grunts “Uh- huh” and “Nah” in response to your questions. Yet you overhear him speaking animatedly and loquaciously to someone on his cell phone. This new, redesigned little boy has moments of unexplained extreme pleasantness, offering to take out the trash before you even ask. (Don’t get too excited; these moments are fleeting.) You attribute these changes to his entering puberty with its typical hormonal shifts and turns. While this certainly is true, what’s also happening is that your son has embarked on a journey to find a new—and different—love of his life.Oh sure, you’ll still get the requests for money (you may actually recall with fondness his five-dollar allowance) or for help, but that pedestal you’ve been on for the past fourteen years or so is starting to crack. Now that your son has discovered girls—not just in a stealing-their-lunch-on-the-school-bus way, but as potential intimates— your relationship with him will change.Meanwhile, as the girlfriend, you hadn’t considered how his mother could affect your relationship. You’ve fallen for a guy who may act one way when he’s with you, and another way—not all that pleasingly— when he is with his mom. You’ll find yourself treading carefully around this woman, knowing that regardless of what happens between you and your boyfriend, she will always love him.It is rare that one can see in a little boy the promise of a man, but one can almost always see in a little girl the threat of a woman.—Alexandre DumasWho’s on First?A natural order follows the birth of a son. A mother smiles knowingly when his first word is Dada and not Mama, because, as everyone knows, it’s an easier word to form. She directs the barber to cut his hair so he’ll mimic an adorable GapKids model when she dresses him for Easter. She arranges his plans for the summer, artfully working them around the family vacation. She anxiously gets him ready for his first school dance, straightens his tie, and takes a picture. And then she moves over.As difficult as it is for a mom to step off first base, in order for her to raise an emotionally healthy son who will enter an emotionally healthy adult relationship, she has to be willing to hit a sacrifice fly. Most moms understand this, but that doesn’t make it any easier.Hope, whose married son recently became a parent, says that as much as she has been reluctant to share her only child with another woman, whom she likes, she recognizes that in order to keep her son in her life, she has to allow his wife to take her place. “If you’re going to fight that, you’re going to cause friction,” Hope says. “I’d never want to do that.”Caroline, another mom with a married son, believes she has been replaced by her new daughter-in-law. “He would talk to me, rather than her, before he got engaged. I do feel replaced,” she says, adding with a little resignation, “but I should be. That doesn’t bother me.”Family counselor Esther Ganz applauds the way these two moms handle their relationships with their adult sons. As much as a mom might want to maintain some control over her son, and maybe even his significant other, she really only has control over her own feelings. “I would work on myself. It’s not the girlfriend’s problem. It’s mine,” Ganz suggests. For you moms, this may require taking stock of your own life. Has it become too centered on your kids, and not on yourself? Did you give up a career or hobby or other passion once you became a mom? Have you been living vicariously through your kids so that you fear feeling lost when they no longer need you? (A cautionary note to mothers of younger sons: They always will need you, especially when you’re ready to retire, play golf, and focus on yourself.) As mothers, you chart your children’s development along with your own aging, so the more independent they become, the more ancient you feel. Yet you are really never too old to add a new dimension to your life. You can still get a new job, develop a hobby, go back to school, take a cooking class, learn yoga, travel with your husband or friends. You can make yourself whole. The interesting consequence to all of this is that your sons will be so proud of you—and not feel smothered by your myopic attention to them—that they may even initiate an occasional phone call.I used to play tennis with a very wise mother of two boys who were a few years older than my kids. When I told her how sad it made me to think of my first child going off to college, especially since I projected a lonely future as a single mom, she reminded me about the universal goal of mothers. That goal is to raise children to be independent, financially and emotionally, so they can develop their own productive lives. It’s why you gave them piano lessons, made them go to Sunday school, and insisted they brush their teeth. And those lives should, in the best of circumstances, include falling in love with your replacement.Amy gets this. She has a thirty-year-old son who just got married. As close as she has always been with him, she claims she doesn’t feel less important now that he has a wife. “I really don’t. I feel that this is our goal as parents to see our kids become independent, find a loving spouse, replicate what our parents had.” She adds, laughing, “I think my husband feels he’s being replaced more than I do. When our son got married, my husband acted so depressed, like we were sending him to the gallows rather than to a wife!” Her husband insists, of course, that he has no personal take on this. You should emulate these three women by being content to move over and give your son’s new flame your space, as in a chess game—a kind of queen for a queen, where, if you refuse to budge, you’ll end up in a stalemate. I know you understand all of this without my telling you. But deep down inside, it’s okay to feel a little saddened by this change. When the boy’s mom readies herself to relinquish her first-place position to the girlfriend, if you are that girlfriend, you have your own set of responsibilities. Coming first in a guy’s life comes with a price. Dethroning this other woman (indulge me as I continue the queen metaphor) doesn’t mean you get to relegate the Queen Mother to the servants’ quarters. No one will tolerate that. And you’ll be unfairly viewed as the wicked, heartless daughter-in-law whose husband, by the way, will probably continue speaking to his mother behind your back. Since first place is yours for the taking, try to be magnanimous to the woman you bested. Hopefully, you’ll even grow to like her.Twenty-six-year-old Kelly is trying. Even though she doesn’t particularly like her boyfriend’s mom, she genuinely feels sorry for her, believing her insecure behavior is in some way the result of her son’s own insensitivity. Kelly’s boyfriend frequently gets so caught up in his activities that he forgets to call his mom. Because Kelly speaks to her own mother every day, she understands how lonely her boyfriend’s mom must feel. Purely out of a sense of obligation—and not out of fondness—she encourages him to call his mother. As a girlfriend or wife, your being considerate of his mom—giving your regards when her son calls her, offering to let her sit in the front seat of the car with her son (she should refuse but will appreciate that you asked), thanking her when she gives you that perfume that smells a little like Bubblicious—may not only improve your relationship with her but also stabilize her relationship with her son, which will, consequently, effectively strengthen your relationship with him.And as the boy’s mom, you should recognize how difficult it is for the wife or girlfriend to fit in with your family. She tries to be on her best behavior but she feels ill at ease with your daughter, who acts possessively toward her brother, and with your sister, Aunt Jean, who relishes every opportunity to criticize, and with your elderly father, who resents her different religion. Just like the girlfriend, you, too, should offer to take the backseat—figuratively and literally. One more word on the subject of gifts. My mother-in-law looked forward to giving me an Estée Lauder gift box every Christmas. I loved the gift the first year, but then by the seventh or eighth Christmas I had stockpiled so much makeup, I could have worn a different shade of lipstick every single day. I never had the heart to tell her I no longer wanted it. She also used to fill her candy dish with pastel- colored mint candies. Being polite, I once told her I liked them. I didn’t, but they turned up enclosed with my birthday present and Christmas present every year that followed. Today, four years after my mother-in-law has passed away, I’ve actually run out of makeup, and I’ve found myself searching store after store for those tasteless mints. There will certainly be times that, despite the efforts of the mom and the girlfriend, the guy will do something to hamper their relationship, sometimes unintentionally. Jill, the mother of a twenty- four-year-old son, says her son’s girlfriend expects to be with him constantly. But when he needed to buy a suit for a job interview, he asked his mom, rather than his girlfrie...

I have been dating my boyfriend for nearly 11 years and have always wondered about how I could improve my relationship with his family and vice versa. I will readily admit I have harbored concerns and fears about whether or not I was doing enough or involved enough, and Ellie Fisher's book offers advice and insight that should be seen as common sense for anyone entering a new relationship or looking to improve a current relationship.Coming from a family of all girls, It's Either Her or Me offers critical insight into what the mothers of sons are thinking when a new woman enters his life. For all the stress and pressure we girlfriends put on ourselves, it was reassuring to learn that this internal struggle is also shared from the mother's perspective. They too need to navigate the fine line between wanting to protect their sons and welcome this new woman in his life. As Fisher points out, rather than walking on eggshells around one another, it is critical that their is communication and respect from both parties. I have learned both his mother and my mother from their difficult experiences with their respective mother-in-laws, whether it was not speaking to one another for years, or learning quickly that your way would always be wrong, that to overcome these issues takes time, effort, communication, and most importantly respect. While I am still navigating my own relationship road, and before the ring is on the finger, I thought it was important to take the time and effort myself to learn what I could or should be doing differently. Some of Fisher's pointers I have tried - using the man as the proxy, biting my tongue, respecting his time with his family, among others - but some tips were so obvious I was ashamed I had never thought of them. Why haven't I thought to ask her out one-on-one to a movie or dinner? Why don't I call or email more frequently? Rest assured that these questions are helpful reminders of areas of improvement!More importantly, Fisher's book offers helpful advice on the wedding planning process. I have witnessed enough friend's wedding preparations to know that fun and stress will go hand-in-hand. Learning to pick my priorities, and remembering to keep both families involved in the process is important and I know it will go a long way towards ensuring our future is just as bright as our past. It's Either Her or Me is a book I should have had on my bookshelf long ago. Not only will I be leaving this spring read on my boyfriend's nightstand, but I know that It's Either Her or Me will be a wonderful (and helpful) wedding shower/bachelorette gift. For full disclosure, I received a copy of It's Either Her or Me from Random House in order to craft my review.

If the scenario presented doesn't affect you then I just skip those parts and there were many. Such as ethnic marriages,or when one person has kids already etc. What I would like to see more of is the dilemma of the actual two sets of parents. What do you so with the feelings of intense jealously and competition? Especially when grandchildren come On the scene. Thank goodness I have one daughter because I think it's much better to be the mom of the girl, the advantages are tremendous especially if you and your dtr are close. I do not like being the other of the boy, from the wedding to the amount of time the couple spends with her family as opposed to yours, you must take a backseat and I don't like that. Books acknowledge this but I get the impression us On my way! Of boys have to shut up,Bizet the bullet or risk losing our sons. I am not jealous of my dtr in law,I know she must come first in my sons life for it to be .a healthy marriage but I hate that her family is always in the know before ours just that being the very nature of girls talking more then boys and girls stay closer to the family. I have always said and my friends laugh, best case scenario is if your kid marries an orphan. I'm sure most people feel this way and just don't talk about it.

To actually give kids tools on how to handle bullying and to get ideas on how I as an adult can support kids.A extremely practical book - and the great thing is the kids love learning the practices!I would recommend this book to any adult who wants to do something positive against bullying - here is your chance to get knowledge and ideas!

By Dee DiGioia I just finished reading "Bullying: What adults need to know to keep kids safe" (by Irene Van derSand) WOW!!!! This is a must read for any parent, teacher, school administrator--any responsible adult who works with children and cares about both physical AND emotional safety of children. I absolutely loved it. It is well-organized, describing step by step what to do, and covers all of the important topics. It aligns with what I teach: non-violence but assertive empowerment to help break the cycle of bullying. It includes examples of verbal responses for standing up to all kinds of bullying situations. I appreciate the emphasis on learning a skill, then practicing it to help it become engrained (in my program we call it "practice, practice") because it's hard to think of nice things to say when someone is bullying! Adults should provide opportunities to practice over and over how and what to say in a way that will contribute to reducing or ending the problem rather than adding to the problem. You will NOT be disappointed with this book!!!Dee DiGioia ([...])
