Although I don't recall feeling the wide range of negative emotions that some children in this situation do today, I do remember feeling somewhat envious of my friends whose parents were still together. Back then, divorce was less common than it is today, so I really felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb.Ms. Smith really set the stage for this book by speaking through an innocent child's wee voice. As she poignantly brings out, some children do pay the price of divorce. Although innocent bystanders, they suffer the penalty, as her well-chosen words and illustrations so skillfully depict. In addition, many may blame themselves.Considering the stressful times we are living in, it would be unrealistic not to consider that some marriages, sadly, will fail. However, parents do well to remember another key point that Ms. Smith makes--regardless of how you and your mate feel about one another, you are still obligated by God to continue making your children feel safe, secure, and loved by both of you.Thank you, Ms. Smith, for writing such a thought-provoking book for our young ones (and their parents.)

Pogue A great read for a parent to a child and formatted for emotional support of any child from a broken home. The author exhibits astonishing ability to view subject matter thru the eyes of a child. A wonderful healing tool for any child experiencing the emotional discomfort of their parents divorce. I can't wait to see what the rest of her children's books read like. A MUST BOOK for all parents to read with their children. Absolutely loved the authors keen sense of approach and ability to captivate the attention of both a child and an adult in this read. Hats off on this one...much respect to the author!

So glad I accepted the offer by starting with DIVORCE THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD... Wow! Well executed through a child's perspective that will touch the heart of any child or adult who can relate to the effects of divorce. Well written and not arrogant. Poignant yet enlightening, leaving a reader -- child and parent -- with thought and hope. A must read!
