Chase Paxton loves women – all of them. He has no intentions to settle for just one of them. But when he meets insanely sexy and feminine professional high diver Pearl Davids, he can’t get her out of his mind. Pearl Davids has worse problems than finding a man. After an injury, she’s in danger of losing everything she’s worked so hard to achieve. When she meets Chase, he’s supposed to be a mere distraction from her problems. But the emotions between them run high, and after a few hot kisses, she sends him away. Chase has never been turned down by a woman before, not if she wants him as badly as he wants her. The challenge is on. This is the third book in the LOVE IN SANDY BEACH series. This 5-book big family contemporary romance series continues where THE ARMSTRONGS left off. And you’ll meet many of your beloved Armstrong heroes again. Every book contains a complete love story without cliffhangers and can be read as stand-alone. Follow each sibling on his or her path to a happily ever after, and meet again characters from previous stories in each new book. All my books contain steamy scenes, deep emotions, humor and adventure. More books in the LOVE IN SANDY BEACH series: MOMENTOUS KISSES (Allison and Russel) BILLIONAIRE KISSES (Reese and Nikos) TURBULENT KISSES (Chase and Pearl) DETERMINED KISSES (Ethan and Hazel) RESOUNDING KISSES (Terrence and Ivy)

A romamce to admire By Amazon Customer I really enjoyed this book about 2 pro athletics finding each other and how Chase helped Pearl deal with her injury and how she got it, and in turn she helped him stop his womanizing ways. It was a typical lovely romance of how two people start out trying not to fall in love, but their running away only causes heartache. It was not too unique as books go it followed the typical lines of any romance novel. No twist or turns or surpises I did not expect. It was a nice book. I received this book free for an honest review.

What matters most in leadership? When people think about Jesus Christ, they often associate him with great teaching about ethics and virtues. However, he lived out a vision for the world that went far beyond that — as he shook up the political and religious landscape of his day by painting a vision for life, God, and leadership that nobody had imagined. What does it mean to lead in our weaknesses, rather than our strengths? How do we lead in times of suffering, while engaging the reality of pain? What does it look like to guide people towards a greater purpose without micromanaging them? A close look at the life of Jesus shows us that great and effective leadership is about more than what we might call "Christian morality," and it's more than pragmatic skills we might acquire to get ahead. Learn 11 principles from Jesus' unique life and vision for the world, that we can apply to our leadership in our homes, businesses, and ministries today!

Unique and practical perspective on leadership By Amazon Customer A well-written and thought out book with practical lessons for everyone.Pei uses Jesus and Christianity as the vehicle and basis for the leadership advice, but the lessons are very real-world and applicable to everyone regardless of spiritual beliefs. He also does a good job using real-life experiences of his own and using them as teaching points to provide examples of the lessons at hand.As with many books of this nature, a lot of the points are things we already know...but there are also a few new key insights and perspectives we hadn't thought about.Anyone trying to learn to be a better leader can benefit greatly from the perspectives and tips from this book, which are very different than the typical self-help leadership books.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. What does it mean to lead like Jesus? It may not be what you think. By Legend22 What does good suffering look like? How about bad freedom? What does it look like to pursue a happy vs. a meaningful life? The life of Jesus was not just about a good teacher, but about someone who challenged our natural instincts and the way things were done, even as they are done today.Drawing from the “Beatitudes” from Jesus’ famous “Sermon on the Mount,”the author illustrates leadership from what Jesus did, not just what he taught.Written in a fireside chat style, it’s easy to identify with the author’s own personal experiences as he reflects on leadership from an eternal perspective woven into his own life.If you’re a Christian, you may be familiar with some of these ideas already, but it’s helpful to get the author’s real-life applications, especially in a leadership context. I would take the application questions at the end of each chapter and discuss them in your small group. For those who aren’t Christian or used to "go to church" awhile back, this book may challenge your preconceptions about Christianity or at the very least get you to think about how you could be a better leader who really changes lives.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Lovely compilation of short stories By Luv2read This wonderfully written compilations of poignant, funny, inspiring, and entertaining stories arrived from the seeds of the ever-changing nature of relationships that rarely last a lifetime. And so it is in the variety of bonding with another, however brief or long, that the stories arise, whether it be a quest for love, a balm for loneliness, escaping from the mundane ennui, or the genuine connecting that transcends situations and moves through the linear clock of our lives, this is the glue that brings these stories together. The story that inspired the title revolves around a plane flight, a noisy child, and a move to a first class seat to sit next to a kind stranger who reminded the author, Christina Hamlett, of a close friend from High School who became a stewardess. The conversation with the stranger continued light and chatty until she mentioned her three roommates who were working Sept. 2001 and never made it home alive. The death of her friends put her on a vowed path of sobriety. When they deplaned at Logan airport it had occurred to the author they didn’t even know each other’s names. The names may be unknown but the memory of that deeply intimate conversation lingers. There were so many wonderful stories, beautifully and well written, too many to recount them all here so I will highlight a few. “Gone The Existence Of Them” by Kelsey Poe poignantly starts out with the narrator, the protagonist of the story; with tears flowing as she mentioned she didn’t get “to have his babies.” People were waiting to offer condolences and it’s clear something horrible had happened to our protagonist’s significant other and sure enough as we read on we learn that her young husband died and she’s only 27 years old. The pain bleeds from the page as we see the dreams the couple had together turn to ash. The tenderness is enhanced when the story ends and there’s a footnote that the author, Kesley Poe, lost her husband in 2013. The devastating silence between those last few words guaranteed this story will not be forgotten any time soon.I loved “Love Me Do” by Tracy Falenwolfe and how it started. 1964 and the Beatles were coming to play at the 4-H Club in the author’s tiny hometown but instead of it being Paul, John, George, and Ringo the band was her father and three of his friends wearing wigs. The laughter in me slowed when I read that the band broke up when they got drafted. Growing up in a closed family, closed in the sense of not communicating about emotional or any deep issues, Falenwolfe tried to understand the situation and the question of her existence. As the author became a parent and reflected back the situation with her father she contemplated maybe he gave all he could, working two jobs and when not at work doing more work around the house. An understanding was forming and around that time there was a sweet gesture to photograph the five grandchildren and give it to her father, but he died before receiving it. He died of a sudden heart attack at 59 years old while shoveling snow. Reflections come when we lose a parent and in the case with Falenwolfe it surprised me to read, “I wish we hadn’t been so much alike.” What wasn’t a surprise was the wish that one of them broke down and communicated to the other; to verify the bond and love that exists between a parent and their child. Then there was the sweet story of a young teenage girl meeting a stranger on a bus ride, Strangers on a Midnight Bus by Charlotte Nystrom that rang close to home: The allure, sensual and emotional, of a stranger and the lingering memory of him years later. Lovely story.Story after story, I’m left contemplating the human condition. All the what ifs and should have done and feel extremely grateful I’m alive and right now have he opportunity to say something I feel must be said, hug someone important, keep quiet when it will serve well, and let my heart stay open through pain and joy for therein the human condition shines and grows. When the last page of this wonderful book was shut, I sat and reflected back on the richness of the relationships and their stories told, that for a brief moment I got to be a fly on the wall to something deeply intimate. The writing excels throughout these moving stories and I’m truly grateful I happened upon and read this book.

Each of these different stories ask that question in a creative way By Book Reviewer I received this book today and literally could not put it down!A lovely reflective group of short stories that place a different perspective on life's should have/would have?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. When you need to take a break, and center yourself on what really matters By Jill Anne Gambaro It's been a while since I've read a collection of short stories and I found the format really suits my lifestyle right now. Whenever I needed a break, I could open the pages and lose myself for a few minutes. That they were gathered around a theme made me want to come back to it again and again. The stories themselves made me think of those brief encounters, sometimes for a few years, sometimes for a few minutes, which stayed with me long after the other person left. From the stewardess with a drinking problem, to the soldier with a simple question, to the woman who regrets, all three my favorites, the collection shows you just how important we all are in each other's lives. There's a broad range of stories in the book, and I admit to being less interested in the “one that got away” versions than in those fleeting moments where some stranger looks at you and says something that stops your heart in its tracks and sends you in a completely different direction. Still, there's a wide variety here, something that's sure to appeal to everyone. It made me want to write a few of my own which, to me, is the very best gift from a book.

For some people just finding someone they can tolerate is difficult enough while others can’t walk to the local post office without falling in love twice on the way. This is the book for both cases and everyone in between going from how to determine what you are really looking for and where to best find that “perfect” fellow and then going on to the casual courtship and culminating in the actual moment of love. Don’t expect a rigid set of rules or a boring step by step, how it is done book though. Love does not follow any silly rules nor will it be confined to a step by step process. You have to find the smallest seed of love and then protect it from ill-winds, upsets and nurture it until it blossoms forth. Even those who cast a wary eye on love in all of its glory may find some charm here- and may agree to shake off their negative thoughts and give love or at least love’s little sister, “like” a chance once again. This should be a fun book to read because it is about one of the oldest and dearest of the human experiences ever. Even if you have had your heart broken a dozen times you have to admit that it was quite a ride to get there, no? Here is a preview of what you will learn from this book: • The difference between dating and dating that matters. • The difference between a first date and a first connection. • How to decide if the connection is enough to pursue or whether you should just let it wither on the vine. • How to keep him interested in finding out more about you without giving up all of your information right away even if you really, really like him. • How to know when it is time to let him know how you feel and just how to let the cat out of the bag. Come on a journey of love with me. Take my hand. I promise we will have fun and even if the next heart to hit the floor and shatter is one of our own I promise that it will mend, and we shall love once again.

She is smart, accomplished, has a great career, but hasn't had a stable relationship in almost a decade. Since I purchased Make a Man Fall in Love With You on my account, I asked for feedback when she was done reading it, and she said although the book was short, it was packed with useful tips on how 'make' a man fall in love with you. When I asked what her biggest takeaway was, she said the part about falling in love with oneself first, which is good advice for anyone, man or woman.

By Brad Mayo I bought this book for my cousin because she always struggles with keeping a relationship and I really wanted to help her out. She laughed when she first saw the book but now she is really happy I got it for her and she said she learned so much from it. She now has a new boyfriend and it seems to be going great right now. Definitely recommended!

Tyler McMann’s life changed forever because of one secret. He knows as soon as he sets foot on Meg’s front porch that she has secrets of her own. He can’t allow himself to become involved with a woman who’s clearly hiding something, but he can’t deny the attraction between them either. Can he learn to trust Meg, and can he trust fate to lead him down the path he’s meant to travel?

Blinding Fate (Role of Fate Book 2), by Tamra Lassiter

Review 4 stars from RT Book Reviews - February 2016 The second book in Lassiter's Role of Fate series truly delivers, with suspense, intrigue and a greatromance. Meg and Tyler are both hiding secrets that take almost the entire book to be revealed, and Lassiter does a great job of keeping the story captivating and building tension while developing Meg and Tyler's feelings for each other. It's a page-turner for both the mystery and the romance. Meg Johnson is new in town when she meets policeman Tyler McMann, who is investigating the disappearance of her neighbor and only friend in town. The sparks fly between them as soon as they meet, but they both have real doubts about a relationship. Meg doesn't want Tyler to know about her past, and Tyler doesn't want to get involved with someone he can't trust. Reviewed by Susan Roberts

Tyler is a policeman looking into the disappearance of Meg's next door neighbor. He is immediately attracted to her even though he knows that she is hiding something. Meg is also attracted to Tyler but feels like she needs to run away again to keep her secrets. Even though he knows that she is hiding something, Tyler wants to help her. This is a quick sweet read about love and trust. Even though there is a strong attraction between the two main characters, they are smart enough not to take their relationship to the next level until they trust each other. Will their relationship work out? You have to read the book to find out!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Suspense Throughout!! By Mary Featherly This is my favorite of Tamra Lassiter's books. Right from the very beginning, Tamra dangles the thread of an important secret which the main female character, Meg, is trying her best to hide by keeping herself isolated from everyone in her new town as much as possible. This fails to be successful as she has befriended and cares about her elderly neighbor who has gone missing. The police become involved in the person of Tyler, who is deeply attracted to Meg and realizes that she is hiding an important secret. There are many twists and turns in this story, also two plots, one dealing with the disappearance of the elderly neighbor, and the other, the necessity Meg feels to run and run to keep everyone she loves safe. The ending is climactic and quite a surprise. You'll love the pace of this book, and keep reading and reading to learn the conclusion.

The story and characters are great. Meg is hiding in the town of Davidson where Tyler is a police officer. They meet when here neighbor/landlord goes missing. Amy Fast argues that we have never had a clear purpose for our schools and that now, more than ever, educators in America ache for a more inspiring purpose than simply improving results on standardized assessments. Fast asserts how focusing on the mission instead of simply the mandates and measures is how real change occurs. Until we have a common and transparent purpose that serves to inspire those in the trenches of the work, reform in public education will continue to flounder. Through the examination of our past and current priorities for American schools, Fast uncovers a nobler purpose that will intrinsically move educators as well as students to be inspired in their work. In turn, it is this inspiration—not another silver bullet reform—that will lead to meaningful change in society.

It's the Mission, Not the Mandates: Defining the Purpose of Public Education, by Amy Fast

Review Dr. Amy Fast engages teachers and leaders in profound reflection and analysis of their personal beliefs, actions, and practices in order to awaken student learning and lead the way in transforming education. (Davey Altree, new teacher mentor)Fast's book demands that we move beyond the "what" and the "how" of schooling - these often convoluted by accountability measures - and instead turn to each other in conversation about our moral imperatives. Her book provides provocative questions that can move education forward if educators and the general public have the courage to engage in thoughtful discourse. (Angela Peery, EdD, national consultant and author, Leadership and Learning Center)Dr. Amy Fast raises critical questions about public education in America, including whether it is teachers’ sense of purpose or the educational mandates that make the difference. The nature of Dr. Fast’s argument will provoke both thought and emotion. She helps us to reflect on and see more clearly why we do what we do. (Kyra Donovan, director, McMinnville School District; professional development associate at The Leadership and Learning Center)Dr. Fast’s informed perspective comes from the heart and trenches of education as she continues to work in schools as a teacher and professional developer. Her analysis provides insight into a complex system, and her arguments will move readers to change the narrative about America’s schools. (Veronica Chase, teacher and professional development specialist)

Anderson "It's the Mission, Not the Mandates" is a refreshing and inspiring read for anyone interested in improving public education in America. This book provides much needed hope for educators, administrators, policymakers, students, and parents that they can create passion and inspiration for learning in our public schools.Dr. Fast is a passionate educator who expertly articulates the seemingly overwhelming challenges faced by America's educators and administrators. She defines with precision the changes that need to be made to motivate teachers to become exceptional educators and inspire students to do their best, masterfully identifying the "sweet spot" that has the potential to change the trajectory of students' lives and improve the health of our communities.Dr. Fast demonstrates how America's public schools have lost their way and provides a clear path for improving public education, improving students' lives, and improving society. "It is not an exaggeration to say that those in the field of education are in the business of changing the world. Educators know that children are the key to improving society, that they are the future of our communities, and there is no work more important than investing in that future."I especially appreciate that Dr. Fast provides an important and overdue voice for all stakeholders in public education, expressing the concerns of administrators, teachers, and students facing overwhelming pressure to maintain the "laser-like focus" that schools across America are being begged to employ, the problem being when that "laser-like focus" begins to function more like tunnel-vision.Dr. Fast calls out the systematic demoralization of teachers who, day in and day out, try their hardest to do what is best for their students only to be told that they are failing by mandated measures that seem arbitrary. She provides an important voice for students who have been required to sit through what seems like pointless instruction that does not feel relevant to their lives or their futures. She discusses the various expectations that business leaders, politicians, civic leaders, and parents have of public schools, including, but not limited to, preparing students for college, creating responsible citizens to ensure that our country continues to nurture the ideals of freedom and equality; preparing students for the global economy so America can maintain its competitive edge; the need to instill better moral compasses in our children by teaching social skills; self-monitoring strategies; responsibility to the greater good; and a respect for authority. There are others who want schools to provide free child care and free meals, develop students' self-esteem, teach life skills and good work habits to combat the effects of bad parenting, promote good health, and provide vocational preparation. But most importantly, "It's the Mission, Not the Mandates" provides a clear path for improving America's public schools. This book is exceptionally well-written and well-researched, and Dr. Fast is clearly passionate about improving students' lives through inspiring education. Ridgeway This book is a must read for anyone who has anything to do with education, but especially for those contemplating going into the profession. Unless you are willing to be part of the “revolution” which Dr. Fast suggests, you should walk away. Have no doubt that the descriptions that Dr. Fast portrays in describing the state of education today and the stakeholders involved are overwhelming but highly accurate.Teaching is, or was, a second career for me; one I felt called to do later in life, not only to help young people but also because I wanted to know why so many were failing to become successful. Many people advised me not to do it, but being hardheaded I knew I had to find out for myself. I was determined to work in a school that was failing, because I knew that was where I would find the truth. My experiences in and out of the classroom over the last five years have been an eye opening training in itself. A month ago I walked away from my high school Civics class so disillusioned by a system that seems determined, albeit unintentionally, to destroy itself. I am thankful I found this very inspiring work by Amy Fast.As I read the book, so many memories came flooding in, i.e., being told to focus on the “bubble” students, to manage the classroom by controlling students through rewards and force, being led by well-intentioned administrators whose sole focus had become moving their school performance score up so many points, and too many teachers who were just waiting until they could retire or move to a better school. If teacher apathy wasn’t enough, one of the biggest obstacles I encountered was student apathy that was ingrained by the time they made it to high school. Learning had no purpose for them but was only what they had to do until they moved on to the next class. The advice I always received was to be more engaging, but my question was always “How do I engage young people whose life and educational experiences have left them with no ability or even the desire to self-regulate long enough to be engaged?”The beauty of It’s the Mission, not the Mandates: Defining the Purpose of Public Education, however, is not simply its accuracy, but the fact that it gives hope and strategies for real change. I have argued for much of what Dr. Fast advocates, without much success. The process is not something that will be easy or overnight. As she advises, it will definitely take a full-fledged revolution and not just reformation. It is not something that individual teachers can achieve, because it requires and demands all stakeholders participate. I may not see the end of the war for our children’s future, but I definitely intend to try and be a stirring force that keeps the embers glowing. When I left the classroom, I needed to see in black and white what it takes to make education work and that it can be accomplished. This wonderful book conveys the passion it takes to do this successfully. Thank you Dr. Fast!

My husband, who is a Medical Doctor, reviewed It's the Mission, Not the Mandates by Amy Fast By lisa I just completed It's the Mission, Not the Mandates, and my head is still reeling with the similarities between the Medical and Teaching Professions. I have struggled as a doctor, not unlike a teacher, with quality metrics, meaningful use, chasing after and attempting to attain, while the noble purpose of the profession is stymied with such activity. Sir William Osler reminds us "The practice of medicine is an art, not a trade; a calling, not a business; a calling in which your heart will be exercised equally with your head. Often the best part of your work will have nothing to do with potions and powders, but with the exercise of an influence of the strong upon the weak, of the righteous upon the wicked, of the wise upon the foolish.”Dr. Amy Fast tells us on page 96, "Assessments and accountability are not inherently evil. However, when we neglect to start with the why-to lead with our purpose-we can easily lose sight of our mission and think that the measure is the prize to be won. The assessment results are not the prize; the prize is inspired American citizens operating at their full potential."This is a must read, and Amy reminds us how to keep the heart and head in sync to inspire us to reach our full potential, to pursue with purpose and passion. Thank you Amy!
