My parents fiercely opposed but as usual, they left the matter to my grandfather who controlled the family. Anna is a fun character and her interactions with her friends and teacher are refreshing. The concern over embarrassing herself in front of her teacher, protecting her friends, and confronting her own beliefs about the Tooth Fairy all ring true. By Stephanie Faris The Anna Banana books center on a third-grade girl named Anna who has an adorable little dog named Banana. Can I just say how much I LOVE the relationship between Anna and her dog? Mostly, however, the book is about friendship and the tricky navigation that comes with having two best friends at that age. I love this series and I can't wait to read book #4!

Beware parents, this books raises doubts about the tooth fairy! I have no idea why they would have that in a book marketed to 6-8 year olds. Luckily we caught it in time since she was reading out loud. That is not something we want ruined for her at such a young age!

Sarah Swofford does a fabulous job of normalizing what happens after you have a baby with plain, understandable, and "easy to relate to" advice. Her book is based on interviews with a wide variety of Moms so I'm sure you'll find yourself shaking your head "yes" a lot! Her book is also informed by scientific research as well as her own personal experiences of being a Mom and her exploration of finding her way back to sex (and loving it!). You can always find your way back to sex and Sarah shows you how.

The tone is intimate, like talking to a close friend, and it helps normalize some of the physical and emotional changes we all go through after having a baby. I read the entire thing in one sitting, I could not put it down. Now I am waiting for my partner to finish it so we can talk about it. I think it will the open doors to some conversations we've been needing to have and put us back on track to intimacy.

Ragan It has been over 25 years since I gave birth to my second daughter, but Sarah Perez-Swofford's book From Ouch! To Ahhh... has information relative for me today as a soon-to-be-grandmother. Choosing this book as one that would be beneficial for my now pregnant daughter led me to an unexpected source for myself as well. Swofford directs our attention to the changes, physical and emotional, our bodies undergo as women, placing equal importance on understanding both. She emphasizes the crucial need for us to develop and nurture a strong self in order to foster the same in our children. Swofford reminds us that the underpinning of a solid relationship begins with being in tune with our essential self and not merely to know our physical selves and its needs but to be able to voice such to our spouses. That the corners of our mouths turn up a bit as we read her book makes it all the better. Well done, Sarah Swofford. Well done!
