It contains outdated information, unfounded statements, sex bias, typos and information that is just plain common sense at the most basic level. information. There is no research or references included or behind this book. There is no bio for the author, no information on who she where her information came from. Sadly, it is not worth my time or trouble to send it back for a refund. But, if you are going through a divorce, DO NOT CHOSE THIS BOOK, it contains no helpful financial or legal advice. Further, some of the information is just plain WRONG!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Valuable advice By Filomena Fabry My divorce wasn't an easy task or happy event of my life, but without the valuable advice and help of this great guide I would be today in a much worse situation emotionally, not to say financially, but this guide helped a lot to reconstruct my life back, it tells you what to expect in every step of the process and the best way to proceed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It is a good book but it is kept quite general By Elakshi This is an okay book, but I had expected a bit more in-depth information. After my husband shocked me with the information that he had filed for divorce, I was confused, heartbroken, and scared. After 12 years, we've had our challenges, sure...but I loved my husband dearly, and I wanted to grow old with him. We were soulmates, lovers, best friends... We've always made a great team..!I am suffering from a chronic illness that has caused me to become a bit less social due to pain and fatigue. I wasn't the stunning and ever-happy beauty my husband fell in love with.He told me that he'd lost his sunshine, and that he couldn't live like this anymore...There is probably no book that is able to cover every possible situation, and I understand that. However, the advice given in this book was just common sense for me...I had never yelled, or screamed, or cursed at my husband during our entire relationship. I'm just not that kind of person...I didn't bad-mouth him, or tried to "make him pay" for the pain and heartache he caused.Starting to date again was not on my mind at all, and especially not to get back at my ex...Anyway; I read through this book in one hour, and when I was done I didn't feel that I had learned anything new or that it made things clearer for me.I am happy for everyone this book really helped; I should have saved the money for a Starbucks Latte Macchiato...

By CK Wise Up: Be The Solution is a must read for all parents who want their children to meet with success in the school setting. As a seasoned school psychologist and mother of twins, I truly understand the important role that parents play in the educational process. As a result, I feel compelled to bring to your attention the power of this book. Yes, as parents we expect great teachers and great leaders for our children. Each summer we wait patiently and hope that our children get the “best” teacher. Truth is, that is often out of our control. This book provides insight as to how to take control! Dr. Casale holds teachers, school leaders, and parents equally accountable. Now how about that??? His no nonsense delivery helps parents to reflect on their performance, and modify that which IS within their control. Parents can check their own educational leadership using the, all encompassing, “parent” report card! Truly, parents can get a “grade” based on their effectiveness. Now imagine showing your kids this grade! Many parents will say they are “actively” involved with regard to their children‘s education, and that may be so; however, this book provides even the best “active” parents with innovative guidance. As a school psychologist, I particularly respect the information provided on Learning Standards, creating a Mission Statement, Parent/Teacher Collaboration, Communication, and Homework. I also really appreciate the guidance Dr. Casale shared with regard to participating in effective teacher conference, and children and electronics….but don’t get me going on the latter! I encourage you to read and take note of Dr. Casale’s recommendations. In sum, this book provides a template for parents to maximize their children’s educational experience by educating the educators in the home…..the parents!

This book is a must have for every parent and also makes an excellent gift for future parents By Claudia Mann The title says it all "Wise Up and Be the Solution." This book is a must read for parents and parents-to-be alike. Preparation can avoid a lot of headache in the process of raising a child. This is just what this book does! It prepares the reader for "the road ahead" with their precious little ones. In this book, Dr. Casale covers a wide range of topics about how to raise and nurture a child responsibly. From attitude, safety and security, the concept of discipline at home and in school, ideas on how to make the long summer months worthwhile, to the impact of video games (just to name a view of the topics), the author gives expert advice on how to handle about any issue that can occur in the life of a family with children. This book is a must have for every parent and also makes an excellent gift for future parents. Therefore, I ordered five copies of the book. I kept one copy for myself, two of the copies I gave to my own children, and the other two copies are ready to be given to future parents in my family. Every parent can learn how to "Be the Solution" in their child's education, and Dr. Casale's book truly is an asset to every home library.

Great ideas about what your role should be By Tiffany F Merritt I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book and am providing my honest opinions.I think this book has some very practical nuts-and-bolts advice for parents as we navigate the increasingly complicated social world with our kids in school. I think what I like best about this book is different (and unfortunately, common) problems we might encounter (safety concerns, bullying, etc) and some specific ideas for the role of the child, the role of the parents, and the role of the school for handling these situations. This isn't a book to help parents think through, for example, if private, public, or homeschooling is the way to go (an issue I wrestle with). But again, it does offer concrete ideas for what your involvement should be in ensuring that the educational environment is a positive one for you child.

Joe couldn't have written a more perfect story for children. While my daughter is under two, she still loves the images and listening to the story. Chapter One

Snow Day!

The first snowflakes fell right at dawn. They tumbled down from the gray sky, along with one fluffy yellow bird. Woodstock somersaulted through the air, trying to dodge the snowflakes. But they settled on his wings, slowing him down. He came in for a landing on top of a pile of snow. A large, dog-shaped pile of snow. The mound of snow underneath the little bird exploded, sending Woodstock shooting up into the air. When he landed again, he was on top of a doghouse—and face-to-face with a black-and-white beagle. Snoopy let out a happy cry and the two best friends hugged. It was going to be a good day. Snoopy and Woodstock were the first to wake up in the neighborhood, but the others weren’t far behind. Alarms rang from house to house as kids got up to get ready for a day of school. Marcie groggily sat up, put on her glasses, and turned off the alarm. Over at her house, Peppermint Patty sprang up and grabbed the hockey stick by her bedside. Then the freckle-faced girl used it to smash her alarm clock to pieces. At Schroeder’s house, the blond-haired boy slowly woke up to the calming sounds of classical music written by his favorite composer. He sat up and smiled. “Ahh. Beethoven.” And in a house nearby, Lucy Van Pelt was up and out of bed like a shot, as always. She went straight into her brother Linus’s room. He was still sleeping peacefully, clutching his pale-blue blanket in his arms. “Linus, time to get up,” she whispered. Linus kept sleeping. “You don’t want to be late for school,” Lucy warned gently. But Linus still didn’t wake up. Lucy’s dark eyes narrowed. She yanked the blanket away from him. “GET UP!” Lucy yelled. Linus leaped out of bed. “Ah! My blanket!” Next door, at Charlie Brown’s house, the phone rang. His little sister, Sally, answered it. “Hello?” she asked. “Waa waa waaa,” said the voice on the other end. “Snow day?” Sally repeated. Could it be true? It was! “Snow day!” Sally let go of the phone and jumped into the air. “No school today!” she cheered. Then she picked up her schoolbooks from the kitchen table and happily tossed them into the garbage can. Word of the snow day spread like wildfire around the neighborhood. Minutes later, kids began to stream out of their houses, dressed in winter coats, mittens, and scarves. They carried hockey sticks and ice skates. Snoopy and Woodstock watched as they ran past the doghouse, headed for Charlie Brown’s house. Snoopy broke into a happy dance. Snow days were so much fun! The kids began to talk excitedly. “Franklin and Peppermint Patty are on my team!” announced Lucy. Whenever they played hockey, Lucy always got to be a captain—and she always made sure she got first pick of her teammates. “I got my hockey stick!” Schroeder cried, waving it in the air. “I got my skates!” said Franklin. “Who has the pucks?” Peppermint Patty asked. Next to her stood a girl named Patty—just Patty. Even though they had almost the same name, it was easy to tell them apart. Peppermint Patty had brown hair and freckles, and Patty had light brown hair and no freckles. Patty pointed to a boy walking toward the group. Even though it was snowing, clouds of dirt puffed up as he walked. “Here comes our goalie!” she called out as Pigpen approached. Patty’s best friend, Violet, shook her head. “Pigpen, were you born dirty?” Pigpen ignored the comment. He looked at Charlie Brown’s house. “What’s taking him so long?” “Come on, Charlie Brown!” the others yelled. Inside the house, Charlie Brown struggled to put on his winter gear. In the spring, summer, and fall, getting dressed was so much easier. He just slipped on black shorts and his favorite yellow shirt with the black zigzag pattern, and he was done. But winter was harder. Winter meant boots that he couldn’t squeeze over his feet and puffy jackets with a zipper that always got stuck and mittens that he always lost. The sound of his friends outside faded as Charlie Brown hurried to put on his boots, coat, and hat. When he finally finished, he rushed outside. “Hey, guys, wait for me!” he cried. But everyone was gone. They had all left for the pond without him. Charlie Brown’s excitement deflated like a balloon. Then Charlie Brown looked up at the sky. The snow was starting to slow down, and the sun was starting to shine through the parting clouds. “This could be the day,” he said hopefully. He dashed back inside and grabbed his newest kite. Then he ran down to the open field, which was perfect for kite flying. He jammed the kite into a snowbank and then walked away from it, unraveling the string as he went. “A new kite, a gentle breeze—it all feels just right,” Charlie Brown said. “Now that the Kite-Eating Tree is sleeping for the winter, we have nothing to fear.” Charlie Brown loved to fly kites. But the Kite-Eating Tree always spoiled his fun. In spring, summer, and fall, the tree came alive. Charlie Brown was almost certain that it used its branches like claws to snatch his kites out of the sky. But now that it was winter and the tree was quietly resting, he might just have a chance. Charlie Brown looked up at the sky again as he unraveled the string. The sun was even brighter now. “Some days you can just feel when everything is going to turn out all right,” he said. Holding the reel at the end of the string, he faced the kite, which was still sticking out of the snowbank. Then he took a deep breath, turned, and ran as fast as he could. “Liftoff!” he yelled. The kite shot out of the snowbank. Charlie Brown looked behind him to see the kite dragging in the snow. “Wait a minute . . . ,” he said, fumbling with the reel. He wrapped some string around it and the kite slowly lifted into the air. Then . . . whoosh! A gust of wind picked it up and sent it soaring. “It’s in the air,” he said, barely believing it. “It’s flying!” Holding the string, Charlie Brown raced to the top of a nearby hill. The kite soared above him on the breeze. Down below, he could see his friends playing hockey on the iced-over pond. “Hey, guys! Look! Look! I did it!” he called down. But his friends were too busy with their hockey game to notice. It didn’t matter. The smile on his face grew bigger and bigger. He was doing it! Suddenly, he felt something yank on his feet. He looked down to see that the string had wrapped around his boots! He lost his balance and slipped, sliding down the hill. He landed on the frozen pond and slid across the ice on his belly like a seal. He finally came to a stop in front of his best friend, Linus. Linus, still clutching his blanket, looked down at his friend. “Hey, Charlie Brown. You still can’t get that kite to fly, huh?” he asked. At that very moment a strong gust of wind blew. The kite smacked into the back of poor Charlie Brown’s head and then launched into the air, taking Charlie Brown along with it. Linus watched him go. “Remember, it’s the courage to continue that counts!” he called after his friend. The kite dragged Charlie Brown across the ice at superspeed. The hockey players had to quickly skate out of the way to avoid being hit by him. Charlie Brown managed to get to his feet, holding on tightly to the string. He tried to steer the kite toward the shore. Up ahead, Lucy was doing figure-skating tricks on the ice, surrounded by a group of kids. She twirled around and then raced across the pond, building up speed. “And now, for my famous Triple Axel!” she cried. “Prepare to be amazed.” She hopped on her right foot, ready to leap. Then . . . wham! Charlie Brown crashed right into her! She twirled three times and landed on her butt as the kids clapped and cheered. Charlie Brown kept going. He slid across the pond, headed right for a very big tree. The kite got stuck in the tree, with Charlie Brown still tangled in the string. The string whipped around and around the tree with Charlie Brown still dangling from the end. Whomp! An avalanche of snow fell from the branches above, revealing old pieces of kites wedged into the branches. When Charlie Brown finally stopped swinging around the tree, he was hanging upside down from one of the branches, next to his kite. “Ugh,” Charlie Brown moaned. “Stupid Kite-Eating Tree!” Lucy skated up to him, followed by the other kids. “You blockhead!” she yelled. “I should have known. What kind of a person tries to fly a kite in the middle of winter? You will never get that kite to fly. Why? Because you’re Charlie Brown!”

If you have ever enjoyed the story of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, then you will really enjoy this novelization of the recent movie By Jessica Higgins Charlie Brown has never been a winner. His favorite past time is trying to fly a kite, but he has never successfully done it. The kite eating tree always manages to catch his kite before it can fly. His whole neighborhood just thinks of him as a regular failure. Then one day a new kid moves to the neighborhood. She is a little red haired girl that knows nothing about him. Maybe he can impress her and his luck will change. When Charlie Brown makes a perfect score on the standardized test, he quickly becomes a celebrity. But is he really a genius? And will this make him a winner. This was a really fun read that I did with my five year old before he goes to see the movie. I’ve always enjoyed reading the Peanuts comic strip and watching the old Peanuts cartoons, so I’ve been looking forward to this as well. The novel is easy to read and follow, even for young children. I highly recommended it either before or after you watch the movie.

Disclaimer: This is a dark, Contemporary Adult romance. The novel contains mature elements, including but not limited to: infidelity, death/bereavement involving the loss of a child, and an explicit sexual affair between a student and teacher. It is intended for readers 18+ only. They say that bad news comes in threes – and for Emilia Tóibín, this is an understatement. The anniversary of her son's death, her husband's affair, and a scathing separation. All on her 30th birthday. In sorrow's wake, she leaves her editorial job behind, packs a single suitcase, and exchanges Manhattan – and the past twelve years - for her long-abandoned and deceivingly idyllic hometown of Montauk. There, on the beachfront, she meets a boy. They share a single night together. And she believes, like everything else, that she'll never see him again. When she takes accepts an impromptu position as a Creative Writing teacher at the local high-school, she sees a way to begin picking up the pieces. A new life chapter. A chance to heal. But when a familiar face appears in her classroom – the boy from the beach, Bryan Thorn – everything changes. She is broken. He is troubled. And despite the whispers, pain, and the shared pasts that threaten to destroy them both – neither can keep themselves away. One thing is certain: some affairs prick like thorns.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. amazing book!! By Amazon Customer 4.5 starsI just finished Thorn by Liv Hayes and I am overwhelmed with emotions. Thorn is like nothing I have read before. This is not your typical forbidden romance. It's content is disturbing, thought provoking and emotive. I found myself empathic and thinking what would I do?? It did not feel like fiction.... It was so realistic, it could have been a true life story. The experiences and emotions the characters went through felt so REAL. Liv's writing style is not only unique, it's poetic and descriptive. I found myself seduced by her profound words. The vivid details in which she writes had me mesmerized. I was transported into the world of her characters... I was able to smell, see, taste and FEEL, everything she described! This isn't a sweet romantic book... it's very RAW. Everyday people dealing with insurmountable grief, despair and tragedy. Two lost souls who found each other, when they needed each other the most. A troubled 18 year old boy and a broken 30 year old woman. They gave each other what they both needed so desperately, HOPE... Things get complicated and lines get blurred, but who are we to judge? This book had it's share of sadness but it's not overwhelming. It is a story that will stay with you forever and is so worth the ride....Some people come into our lives for just a moment, while others stay for a life time.... is one more important than the other?? No, not if they play a significant roll.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. strongly dislike but By romance4ever I strongly dislike romance books that contain infidelity and this one did. I also strongly dislike romance books where very bad things happen to people and it destroys their lives. That is also this story and it had the most horrible thing that can happen to parents, a death of their child. Despite those things this is a very good, well written story. I cannot even say I enjoyed reading it because I didn't but it left a lasting impression. I read too many books and most just blend together. This is one that I will not forget.

The life of a toddler can be full of frightening things: the dark, the neighbor’s dog, and thunderstorms, just to name a few. As children get older, they begin to feel braver around these everyday events, but how do they build this newfound confidence? In this lyrical, insightful picture book, an older sister explains to her younger sister all the things she used to be afraid of, along with some tricks to help, whether it’s a special blanket for bedtime or singing during a storm. Now, big sister assures little sister, the fears that once felt as big as a mountain feel as minuscule as a speck of dust. This playful portrait of fear and bravery empowers young readers to confront once-scary situations and, with charming illustrations and die-cuts throughout, is also beautifully packaged.

Nonetheless he lived it and find it "goofy" that what it seems to be the eyes of a Monster are actually the eyes of a smiling kitty. He missed a lot of the story content but got the message that many things may look scary but actually are something really funny. The artwork is amazing. So clever! I loved it!

I was hoping that this book would really encourage my daughter to face problems with courage but it failed to meet my expectations. It is an enjoyable story for what it is, although I probably wouldn't have purchased this book if I read it through first.
