Knowing the author first hand I have seen these methods in action and witnessed the interaction between parent and child and used some of those methods to help in my relationship with my own. Congratulations to both authors keep up the good work.

It sounds very similar to many self-help books on the market, except this one is aimed at parenting! Think of the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and Think and Grow Rich, except in a parenting book on how to better understand your child. If you like those books then you will love this one! (BTW, it's for both parents and children, because you hear the voice of Jamilah's daughter in this one as well)It focuses on a few points:1) It will help you understand your child better as a single parent. Your child(ren) has a voice, and they would like to be heard and understood.2) It will emphasize that although you must cherish your child or children, it's okay to have a little free time to enjoy yourself.3) Develop a balance between parenting and working life, and be sure to remember, you are a parent, not a friend.This is not only a book on parenting, but a story. The story is that of the author growing more mature as the book goes on. There are a few major turning points that I do not want to spoil for the reader, but I highly recommend this book EVEN if you are not a parent or thinking about having a child, because it will teach you to appreciate the voice of any child you may come in contact with! ^_^
