The Final Book of the Best-Selling Space Opera On Avilon not Even the Truth will Set You Free . . . THE REAL ENEMY IS WITHIN Omnius has been hiding a lot from the people of Avilon. The war with the Sythians is not what we thought, but that raises the question: if not the Sythians, then what did Omnius go to fight in the Getties Cluster? HUMANITY IS BEING HELD PRISONER Omnius knows what people will do before they do it. He predicts citizens’ behavior, and some suspect, he even makes those predictions come true. For those who wish to be free of his influence, Avilon’s lowermost city, the crime-ridden, shadow-filled Null Zone is the only option, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that not even the Nulls are free, and there is a more sinister reason behind The Choosing than the one Omnius gave. As Omnius’s predictions begin to come true, Ethan Ortane realizes he could lose the one thing that matters most to him in the universe--his family. THERE IS A REBELLION STIRRING Far from Avilon, the Sythians are hiding out in the neighboring Getties Cluster. Out there they discover something that wasn’t supposed to exist: a group of human rebels that escaped from Avilon. Their leader, Therius, seems to raise more questions than he answers, but he has a plan to defeat Omnius that just might work. AND THE END IS DRAWING NEAR... As Therius’s plan unfolds, people realize the terrible truth: he can’t win by conventional means, and he knows it. The alternative is called the Armageddon Protocol, but it could mean the end of everything, not just Omnius. . . .

Meyers Since there is an excellent synopsis of the story on Amazon's site, and other reviewers have discussed some of the characters and plot, I won’t repeat what’s been said. I'd prefer to explain what appealed to me about the series and, this, the final book in the series.I have an engineering background and have enjoyed reading science fiction since I was a kid, about 100 years ago. It seems like that anyway. I grew up reading Asimov, Bradbury, Heinlein, Clark, and many of the other greats of Science Fiction. What intrigued me about those books was, simply, the way the authors could tell a story. They painted a picture with words that could capture your imagination and make you a participant in the story rather than just an observer. They twisted and turned the plot to keep you reading until the surprise conclusion. Those authors are my reference points. I admit that I set a fairly high bar and many modern authors fall short in some aspect.Oh, one more thing, I also prefer longer novels to shorter ones. The reason being that the author has more time to develop the characters to help the reader understand the character’s motivations through the twists and turns as the plot develops. If I develop a strong love, or hate, for a character then the author has done their job.So, what does all of this have to do with “Dark Space: Armageddon”? Everything. I have enjoyed each book in the series but I liked this one the best. I believe that Jasper Scott has improved as an author through the series but, understand, I don’t think there was anything wrong with book 1. My one and only complaint about this book is that it’s the last one in the series.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Contains spoilers. By frangipani The plot is so twisted, with changing time frames, it gave me a headache. I had to slow down the pace, take breaks to allow the information to sink in, then return to the book. I had questions after finishing. A lot of questions. What are the origins of the night stalkers? How to explain the differing appearances compared to those in the stasis chambers? Why so many deaths? Just one genocide after another. How are the humans going to cope living with the predators in Paradise? With the ability to splice genes, why are the monsters still so dangerous? Why allow the planetary destruction if they already had the ability to preserve the evidence of the prior civilization?

By Bill Bass I found this book - the much-anticipated culmination of the Dark Space series - to be first and foremost a thoroughly enjoyable read, which is my personal prime criterion for any SF book!On a much deeper level, over the period from reading the first book in the series until finishing the last, I often found myself mulling over various events in the story line, or contemplating various of the many logical and philosophical challenges it presented.Throughout the Dark Space series, author Scott has carefully crafted a number of memorable characters whose distinct personalities and all-too-human quirks were consistent throughout the series. The story itself had both adventure and pathos, cleverly combining current theoretical Physics with pure fiction against the counterpoint of concepts that many would relegate to religion. An intriguingly paradoxical dimension was added in that the characters' personas could exist in multiple physical instantiations - on occasion even simultaneously.Mr. Scott managed to avoid the danger of chaos posed by having such a large number of characters, multiplicity of subplots, and overlapping timelines by adroitly weaving together a fascinating story line that remained coherent throughout.

Everything I ever learned about fairy-tales was a f--king lie....

My life was everything I wanted it to be: I had everything I wanted and everything I needed, in my best friend and newly wedded husband, Tyler.

Yet, hours after we said "I do", I lost him.

Forever....

The dreams we'd shared, the future we'd planned - all of our hopes and desires were ripped away in mere seconds.

And now, four years later, my life still feels like a hopeless eternity.

So, I guess it's quite fitting that the last person I want to hear from is currently standing at my front door.

He wants to tell me the truth about that night; he wants to be my new knight in shining armor, but the thing is....

He was the best man....

By Stephanie L 5 BREATHTAKING STARS**NOTE I typically avoid any and all spoilers however you will find a few in this review. Unspeakable Truths is a multi faceted story that is nearly impossible to fully review without giving away some spoilers. SO if you want to read the book blinding I suggest stopping now.**Unspeakable Truths is one of those books that you will find yourself wondering “did I just read that right” over and over again. So lets just dig right in to the nitty gritty. The Prologue… is amazing and at first I felt like “am I reading a Prologue or an Epilogue?” THEN you get to Chapter 1 and you find out that the fairytale has been ripped right out of their hands.Every Phillips appeared to have the world at her fingertips. She recently finished college, just completed construction on her custom built home and married the man of her dreams. Only thing left was to live out her happy ever after…Luca Jensen was Tyler’s best friend. He was the best man in Tyler and Everly’s wedding and with Tyler the night of the accident.Their worlds were ripped apart. Luca relocated and Everly nearly became a recluse. This lasted for nearly four years. In a chance meeting Luca and Everly reunited. Although this meeting was anything but happy. Not only did Everly believe Luca was responsible for Tyler’s death BUT she also believed Luca had always hated her. She was wrong… really really wrong, on so many levels!!!And so it begins. The fireworks, the thrill of the ride and the oh so sweet build!!! Walls crumble, secrets are unveiled. Two people struggle with attraction and with what some may consider a forbidden romance.Unspeakable Truths is an amazing story filled with heartache, sarcasm and really really hot sex. In some ways it is a second chance at live for this couple. Don’t we all want to believe that when life has dealt us a s***ty hand, maybe just maybe there can be light at the end of the tunnel. I highly recommend you grab this book TODAY!!!

It was recommended to me by another author whose work I enjoyed, so I thought it would be good. The plot was very predictable, but what was worse was the horrible grammar. It was clear that the author didn't use an editor, but even worse, she didn't even run her writing through a grammar checker. That alone would have caught ninety percent of the issues. There were just so many different errors that it pulled me out of being able to enjoy this book at all. I found myself just watching for the next "Oh hi Morgan" moment--and there were a lot. Way, way, way too many. Homophone errors, misuse of words--it was all there, and a good, thorough edit would have fixed them, but really, use of a free online tool would have made the story at least readable. If you are someone who can overlook grammar errors in almost every sentence, you may be able to enjoy this story. If you're like me and lack of comma usage, run-on sentences, homophone mistakes and a plethora of other grammar issues (you name it, it's in this book) will pull you out of a story, do yourself a favor and look for a book where the author cares enough about her writing to at least make use of Word's grammar checker.

Pain, Romance, Passion, Despair—Amazing Story By preppea UNSPEAKABLE TRUTHS delivers a little of everything—pain, romance, passion, despair—the whole gamut of emotions and the believability behind it to pack a solid punch.Everly loses her husband way before his time and blames her husband’s best friend for his death. Luca takes the blame to protect his best friend and leaves town and everyone he loves. But four years later, he’s back and he’s not willing to let Everly continue to waste away in a sea of sadness and suffering. He knows he’s the last person she wants to see, but if no one else can get through to her, he’s determined he will. Everly is horrified to realize that once she stops hating Luca, she might actually like him.I loved every second of Luca and Everly together. When Everly was with Tyler at the beginning of UNSPEAKABLE TRUTHS, even the way Everly described him and their love story felt somewhat superficial and face value; but with Luca it was raw and unbridled. The two saw each other at their worst and still couldn’t deny their growing feelings for each other. Luca was caring and romantic and sweet, but he was also no-nonsense and opinionated. He wouldn’t just let Everly walk all over him no matter how long he’d loved her. The story alternates perspectives between Everly and Luca, though Everly narrates the majority of the story. I could feel the darkness that weighed Everly down and though it was emotional to read, it didn’t bring me down or make me want to stop reading. The love scenes between Everly and Luca were daring, bold, and steamy. The only thing that kept me from giving UNSPEAKABLE TRUTHS the full 5 stars was that for me it dragged on just a touch in the middle, but then the end picked up the pace again.UNSPEAKABLE TRUTHS was a 4.5 star read for me and yet another great story by Alice Montalvo-Tribue. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve read by her and love that her stories are all so different yet share an ability to combine sadness and romance for an altogether amazing story.**Complimentary copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review.

Ticking - a great book for kids who are relocating to Switzerland from USA By Kolson I bought this for my 1st grader to help with a move we are making from US to Switzerland. It's a great read and filled with great facts. She loved the pictures and the comics. I highly recommend it for families who are relocating to Switzerland.

Furrer I think I have never seen a more enjoyable way to introduce people to a country's cultural peculiarities. This is definitely a book for both kids and for adults with a certain amount of curiosity and humor still left from their childhood. ;) The book covers such a wide array of topics that it can't, of course, be complete. But there are lots of references to web sites in the back for those who want to know more about a particular topic. The concept is based on a mix of photos, short texts and, most importantly some comics highlighting some topics. The fact that Switzerland is highly multilingual is well covered, including the fact that Swiss German differs considerably from written German. Being Swiss myself, I have only got to know this book because my son bought it for his US-born daughter. And it is safe to say that we all love it, across three generations.

Goodbye to Shy: 85 Shybusters That Work!, by Leil Lowndes

From Publishers Weekly Many of Lowndes's potential readers may "shy" away from her relentlessly perky, exclamatory tone and use of terms like Shys (for shy folks) and Sures (for extroverts). Which is too bad, because much of her advice is sensible and based on desensitization techniques, or graduated exposure, therapists use in treating shyness and social phobia. The book is a mixture of confessional by a formerly shy author (How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You) and no-nonsense guide. Lowndes cites scientific findings, such as that shy people feel continually judged by others at public events, which they remember as more negative than they were. Lowndes advises writing down one's immediate impressions after a social event. "If you later remember anything negative..., go back and check your notes. If that embarrassing or disappointing moment isn't in your notes, forget it. It didn't happen." She also offers useful advice, such as how to tolerate holding eye contact with strangers. Chapter titles like "How to Handle a Past Bummer" seem meant to appeal to younger readers, but the tone clashes with Lowndes's sometimes dated personal stories. Her great eureka–"I'm not shy anymore" moment takes place in the Playboy Club, where she dons bunny ears. (Aug.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. 281 of 288 people found the following review helpful. Save Your Money By StarLight Honestly, I bought this book expecting something completely different. I like to read reviews before I purchase anything, especially books, and I felt confident buying this one. I honestly cannot believe that people think this is one of the best books or by any means, life-changing. I enjoy reading self-help books and I've read quite a few, and this is honestly one of the worst one's that I've read. I am not insulting Leil Lowndes with this review- I think her writing style makes it an easy read and she adds humor here and there. This particular book is 250 pages and it took me about 2 days to read, from start to finish. The problem with this book is the content. "85 Shybusters that work"... Uh no, not so much. Most of these are very common-sense ways to stop being shy (e.g. smile and listen to others). I will outline the book in this review and if you feel like you need to know more, you can buy it, but consider looking through amazon for other books on the topic as well.- "Should I tell people I'm Shy?" - I'll save you reading 5 pgs... NO, don't tell people you're shy. Period.- "How to battle the Blushing, Sweating, and other Shy Signs" - This section was the one I was looking forward most to reading about, and I was utterly disappointed at the content. Basically, Lowndes gives no actual imput on how to battle these shy signs. Rather, she says to "jokingly warn" people about these signs and to laugh about it. Ugh. Well I could have thought of that- Oh wait, I did; And it doesn't make me feel any better when giving a presentation and I look like a lobster.- "Avoid Toxic People" - I don't think this deserves a chapter but it is an important concept. Basically, don't try to be friends with cocky, obnoxious people, who you know don't really want to be friends with you- It will only make you feel worse in the end.- Smile and Make a Good first impression - I like this idea and it is something I have often been doing anyway, to some extent. People generally remember their first impressions of you, so try to make it a non-shy one. Say hello enthusiastically and smile. People will remember and not automatically think "shy" when they think of you.- "Demented Duck Exercise" - This is just another spin on the whole "sing & dance in your room while no-one is watching" to make yourself feel more comfortable going out into the world- Except this is something I would really not do.- "Gradual Exposure Therapy" - I think this is an important topic that is covered in this book. Basically, the more you expose yourself to situations to help yourself be less shy, the more comfortable you are with similar situations, and gradually you will become less shy. This is the single MOST important part of defeating shyness. This is a very active process and it takes time. This is an actual psychological term; It is not uniquely available in this book. Basically, if you want to know more about this, google it and find more resources about it. It is important to overcoming shyness- and you do this all the time without really knowing there is a term for it. It is essentially you living your life, and every time you take a step to fighting shyness (whether it be talking to someone new or giving a speech) you are going through this "therapy," and briefly exposing yourself to not being shy.- Work on making eye contact. - Simple enough. Practice makes perfect. So practice often on people you know as well as strangers.- Call people by name. - This is good advice that is very common in self-help books. People like hearing their own name. So try to say people's names and practice saying it correctly. Just don't overdo it.- "Sound dazzled over the dumbest things" - I don't know how I feel about this. I suppose it is good advice for very shy people looking to draw attention away from themselves. This way, you sound dazzled- and the other person continues just talking about this dumb thing.- "Interview with Companies you don't want" - If you have the spare time, practice interviews can help you with the anxiety of an interview with the company you want. And yes, many companies tend to ask the same questions, so look on the web for some of these popular questions and develop your answers ahead of time to prevent hesitation and anxiety during these interviews.- Find People you Share interests with - This involves thinking about what you enjoy and finding organizations/clubs of people who enjoy the same things.- Arrive at a party early - This is good advice if you don't know anyone there and you want to meet a few people before all the pressure of a large crowd appears. I couldn't help but notice that this would also apply to other situations- such as school- I know I am often early to my classes (in college) and I make small talk with people before the class begins and I think it helps to make some friends or acquaintances from your classes as well.- Take acting classes - I havn't actually done this, nor do I plan to, but I can see how this can drastically help people come out of their shell and be more outgoing. If you act a certain way long enough, you become that way. This especially applies to being outgoing and speaking loud.Alright. There are some other points that other people may have found more useful in their battle against shyness that I havn't mentioned. But overall, I outlined the ones that I thought were important or unimportant. Also I found that this book has a lot of repetition of ideas; this may have been intentional but I am not sure. One of the things I liked was that Lowdnes mentions not to use alcohol as a crutch as many shy people do. The reality is that shy people are more prone to substance abuse than the more confident people and it is really a shame. I know from experience that alcohol does make me feel much more confident and certainly not SHY... But it will NOT make your shyness go away long-term and it is more important to face your shyness head-on and make a real change in your mindset. Also, before you buy, know that this book is targeted towards very shy people. Shy to the point of needing advice on how to ask for directions, order food for yourself, or make a phone call. If you are this shy, the main advice you will get here is to push yourself to do everything you are afraid to do, while trying not to seem shy... It gets easier over time.I don't review every book that I read, but I wanted to review this one because I feel like it is not deserving of the many 5 star reviews that it has. If you often buy books that are rated 5 stars, you probably know a 5 star book and you may be disappointed, just as I was. Good Luck.

I was recently laid off from work and in the spirit of "reinvention", decided to open up my own small business. As I began to develop my business plan, I realized my success as an entrepreneur will not be a result of what I know, but rather, of who I know. Analytical and introverted by nature, my comfort zone is working at my computer, and certainly not networking and socializing. And do I decided to spend some time developing my social skills, and went in search of some helpful reading. When I came across "Goodbye to Shy", I was skeptical at first to say the least, expecting that a lifetime of shyness could not be "cured" through reading a self-help book. But through the candid wisdom of her writing, Liel Lowndes has quite literally changed my life forever. I began to realize that while some people ("Sures") seem to be naturally blessed with the confidence to interact with other human beings with ease, those of us who are not that fortunate can LEARN to adopt new habits. We can actually and mindfully develop new habits that will enrich our relationships with others and subsequently, enrich every aspect of our lives. For example, as a mother of three, it comes quite naturally for me to turn my body completely toward my child tugging on my hem, bend down so that she can see me at eye level, and give her my complete and undivided attention. Liel explains that adults are not unlike children, and although I may feel uncomfortable, turning my body toward the person speaking to me, focusing my eyes upon them and giving them my undivided attention makes the other person feel at ease and attended to, which will leave a lasting impression.Eager for more, I followed "Goodbye to Shy" with "How to Talk to Anybody", which took the foundations for human interaction that I learned in "Goodbye to Shy" to the next level. Now, I actually look forward to the next social event, or business lunch, or networking event, or seminar, or coffee break, with confidence and excitement. I have learned that even the most prominent and well-respected professionals in my industry are approachable human beings - who share hundreds of commonalities with me that make us all human. I learned that you would be surprised how many other established, well-spoken and confident professionals share my trepidation in a social setting.I am eagerly looking forward to the release of Liel's new book, "How to Instantly Connect with Anyone". Liel, again, you have changed my life forever, and I can't thank you enough for your selfless effort to share your wisdom with countless others. I wish you all the success as a writer that you could have ever hoped for.

Ramos The book felt like it was written at a 5th or 6th grade level, refers to people as "shy's" and "sure's" much to my annoyance. Plenty of the 85 tips are interrelated, impractical, or obvious. She expands on ideas with personal anecdotes, slowly introducing herself and how she because extroverted. I guess is supposed to be inspiring, but if she was able to make money as a model at some point, I doubt she lacked the approachability of more "normal" looking people. Her book can be distilled into only 2 or 3 core concepts, none of them felt new. I wouldn't recommend this book if you are able to order a coffee. Her work seems to be backed up by research supported in the superscripts, but it really does not add anything to the book other than a sense of "told ya so!". The section on dating is especially horrific, I cannot recommend this book.

He writes in a relatable manner, like a trusted friend giving great advice. I immediately employed his techniques into my life -- and marriage to the delight of my husband. The bond between us has strengthened noticeably in the last few weeks, which says a lot for our 25 year marriage that was already tight. The emotional mastery we are developing as a result of this book is enabling us to have new found clarity. We discovered exhilarating new depth between us. The first step is getting real within, and then bringing that wisdom to any relationship is invaluable. I highly recommend this book.

By Amazon Customer This book has a lot of great insight into the destructive patterns that I have experienced in the past and how to avoid experiencing them again (and AGAIN). I'm looking forward to rereading it and making notes in the margins about specific areas to work on and actions to take.I did find some typographical errors and occasionally some difficult to understand phrasing, but overall an EXCELLENT and heartfelt book well worth the read!

It is written from a Pastor "who has been there in the trenches." I would recommend it for everyone. I like the application questions at the end of each chapter .
