After spending 5 years listening to doctors tell us nothing but keep trying and maybe next time it will work we found Christa. It was a blessing in many ways. Not only did we learn how to eat healthy, but we ended up with the greatest gift a child. Each day I look at my beautiful boy and think of how this joy entered my life because someone took the time to give us the information necessary to conceive naturally. If you are having troubles like we did and you are tired of the same answers then try something new and you will be thankful you did.

By Megan Rand This is the best book that I have ever read about fertility and pregnancy, and I have read a LOT! I was so excited to see Christa's philosophy of digging to the root cause of a health issues applied to the topic of fertility, conception, healthy mamas and healthy babies in a very detailed book. What an amazing resource for our future mamas!!! I wish I had had this resource before having my first baby because we could have avoided years of gut dysfunction and doctors. Although the title of the book says that it is for women over 30, this book is for everyone who is interested in a healthy pregnancy and baby! A must have for your library :)

It takes a firm apple to stand up to bullies. When Mac, an apple, meets Will, a worm, they become fast friends, teaching each other games and even finishing each other's sentences. But apples aren't supposed to like worms, and Mac gets called "rotten" and "bad apple." At first, Mac doesn't know what to do—it's never easy standing up to bullies--but after a lonely day without Will, Mac decides he'd rather be a bad apple with Will than a sad apple without. "Charming . . . Social norms force Mac and Will apart; surprisingly effective, fruit-related pathos ensues before the two friends decide to buck convention and like whom they like. Who cares what anyone thinks?"—The New York Times

Bad Apple: A Tale of Friendship, by Edward Hemingway

From School Library Journal K-Gr 2-Mac is a shiny red apple with small, sticklike arms and legs. After he is caught napping in the rain, a little green worm emerges from his left temple, and the two hit it off immediately. They have great fun together and enjoy a variety of activities-until the other apples call Mac names and say he has worms. When the name-calling continues, Will disappears, leaving only a message scratched in the dirt. Going back to his old life, Mac realizes there's a hole in him that he cannot fill. He searches everywhere for his friend, realizing that "he'd rather be a Bad Apple with Will than a sad apple without him. "A variety of insects witnesses their reunion, as does a kind yellow apple. In a final nocturnal scene, as a smiling Mac floats in the watering hole, Will reads aloud by the light of two fireflies. The cheery, cartoon illustrations are done in oils on canvas. Despite its attractive artwork and clever puns, it is more than a tad unsettling to see the worm eating through the apple's skin. Unusual friendships between a worm and another creature are better depicted in Doreen Cronin's Diary of a Worm (HarperCollins, 2003). Youngsters may fondly recall Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar, eating through one red apple, but the idea of a friend eating a hole in another friend's head is disturbing. Wormy apples really do rot.-Mary Jean Smith, formerly at Southside Elementary School, Lebanon, TNα(c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.

From Booklist This story of two unlikely friends sweeps the reader along in its warm, familiar—but peculiar!—plot before delivering that all-important final lesson. Mac is a red apple and Will is a green worm. Before meeting Will, Mac did a lot of good apple things, like sharing his toys and helping the teacher, Granny Smith, pick up after art class. But Will introduces Mac to a whole new level of fun and excitement: flying kites, playing in the dirt, and, of course, reading (Will is quite the bookworm). Mac’s fellow apples, however, mock Mac for hanging out with a worm. Will nobly tunnels off and, of course, Mac searches for him. “There was a hole in Mac that he couldn’t fill.” (Spoiler: it’s the wormhole in his head.) Hemingway’s oil illustrations are rich with autumn colors, and clever bits of action and humor conjure up a world children will want to return to. Meanwhile, the message about peer pressure comes through subtly but strongly. Preschool-Kindergarten. --Connie Fletcher

Review Praise for Bad Apple"Charming . . . This is from my six year old son, to my wife and myself. Great work, good story, and really nice illustrations. I love the play on words with the different varieties of apples (Granny-Smith as real grandma is perfect) including some grumpy crab-apples. The story-line of meeting unlikely friends and defying labels is of course relevant to any age.The aspect of the "properness" of an apple befriending a worm might best be compared to having a little rat being a genius French chef like in Pixar's film "Ratatouille". It's absurd of course, but it's also the whole point: beauty, love and inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places. we have only to be open to it. In any case, the reader or reviewer who over-thinks the scenario and posits that there really IS something wrong with an apple befriending a little worm obviously stopped believing in the magic of childhood a long time ago.

I can't think of any and yet this is one of the most common weapons that bullies use. Bravo for handling the issue with kind spirit and humor. While bullying is part of the book, Bad Apple is really about friendship and what it's worth to us. In a word, everything. My son read it and seems to really understand now that he's allowed to like anyone he wants to like as long as they treat him with respect. His cousin also read the book to himself one morning while visiting. He closed the book and whispered to himself "I love this book". He didn't know I heard him.A beautiful concept, beautifully done.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A breathtakingly beautiful book that will delight and teach young readers By M. Roberts I simply cannot say enough good things about Bad Apple, A Tale of Friendship, written by the oh-so-talented Edward Hemingway. Hemingway is a rare children's book author, in that his wit and talent really take his work to levels not seen in children's books for many years. The story is a wonderful lesson for young readers and sets a good tone for a beginning talk about tolerance, bullying, and accepting our friends for who they are.Mac (the apple--such a clever name!) and Will are delightful characters that really come to life. You care about these characters and while I was reading, I could imagine this story and the characters on film. Finally, I have to say something about the breathtaking artwork of this book. These are not quick drawings--the artwork is done in oils and the richness and depth come shining through. When I opened the book, I literally went, "Ahhhhhhh!" I have absolutely NEVER seen such amazing artwork in a children's book--and there are such wonderful little surprises in the art. Hemingway is not only a fantastic illustrator, his clever wit adds even more dimension.I teach early childhood development and this book hits all the marks for great children's literature. In fact, I loved this book so much that I have already ordered copies of this book for this year's new literature in my university's child development labs. I know children--and they are going to love this book!Edward Hemingway is a talent we should all keep our eye on. It's fabulous (and rare) when you see this kind of amazing talent bloom. It's a completely joy from cover to cover.

Great for young folks, good for adults By Amazon Customer The books are very well done, pictures and timelines inclusive but are targetting younger readers. As an adult I must admit MOST of the content were things I did not know but thats more of a review of our schools than this book. For your 10-12 year old age group they are the best. For adults they are interesting and beautifully pictured but brief. Im glad I bought them but I wish my expectations had been set as to how short they are.

There are some maps and a timeline, a glossary and a Find Out More" section with some web sites and places to visit. My boys love the DK books. I good overview on the subject, but I would definitely combine it with other books/materials to cover the war in more depth.

Heiss DK Eyewitness books are excellent teaching tools, for anyone. This book on the American Revolution does a bang-up job, with illustrations and captions that convey the information straight into your little one's eyeballs. In addition, the book sets up the context for the Revolution, including the dawn of industry in colonial America and the trade networks that were devloping. Also includes brief information on warfare with other European powers and frontier Indians as a prelude to Revolution.Great timeline, and simply an EXCELLENT glossary, including terms like: apothecary, apprentice, artillery, barracks...typhus, Union Jack, and volunteer.Perfect for visual learners -- put this book right into their hands.

The Truth Is...Confessions and Tips from an Elementary School Teacher, by Rebecca Thomas

About the Author Rebecca Thomas taught in the public schools for twenty-eight years and found that the greatest tool she had as an educator was humor. She received awards for creative ideas she implemented in her classroom, and helped raise state math test scores by developing a teaching system that included original songs, movement, activities, and a 100 square foot math mat coordinate grid. She named this system "Academics through Music" and now uses it when she visits schools with her in-school field trips. Seeing how the U.S. schools were changing and how teachers had little to no say about what was happening, Rebecca felt she could do more good for educators, students, and parents if she left the public school system and worked to develop and share her teaching methods, and also to write a book about the sad changes that are taking place in the public schools. Rebecca lives in a small town outside of Orlando, Florida where she teaches and also writes fun educational materials that can be found on her website at www.msthomaspresents.com .

Some of the anecdotes Ms. Thomas shares in her book will make you laugh out loud, while others will touch your heart. The author clearly illustrates that teaching is not for wimps. Teaching requires resourcefulness, dedication, and creativity. Unfortunately, many talented teachers leave the profession due to the many factors Ms.Thomas shares with her readers in this captivating book. This book is a must read for anyone who is considering going into the teaching field.

It made me laugh continually and reminded me of some of the stories my mom brought home after a day of teaching elementary art. ANYONE would like this book. My 85 year old father took my copy and wouldn't give it back till he was through with it. Ms. Thomas is the Erma Bombeck of the classroom. This book doesn't disappoint in any way. Repeated readings are just as funny as the first time! Great idea for a teacher gift or anyone else on that "hard to buy for" list.

What a great book from start to finish... It was a page turner and I could hardly put it down once I started reading it! The characters were so real to me that it honestly felt like I was watching a movie. I really could visualize each and every character. I really related to "Good Enough", having gone through a period myself where I never felt quite good enough. It was such a great story of self-discovery and acceptance and I loved the way Ali loved Cami with all her craziness even when she tried her best to push him away. What an amazing example of loving someone "just the way they are"! Major kudos to the author, Vonna Ivory Joseph and I can't wait to read your next book!!

"Letter-a-week" may be a ubiquitous approach to teaching alphabet knowledge, but that doesn't mean it's an effective one. In No More Teaching a Letter a Week, early literacy researcher Dr. William Teale helps us understand that alphabet knowledge is more than letter recognition, and identifies research-based principles of effective alphabet instruction, which constitutes the foundation for phonics teaching and learning. Literacy coach Rebecca McKay shows us how to bring those principles to life through purposeful practices that invite children to create an identity through print.

Children can and should do more than glue beans into the shape of a "B"; they need to learn how letters create words that carry meaning, so that they can, and do, use print to expand their understanding of the world and themselves.

I would feel worse, but I know that the women next to me and across the hall do the same kind of instruction. No one has ever told us it was wrong. Why did I have to wait so long for this book?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. If you want to find ways to increase your revenue while maintaining your business, you should read this book. By Iris This is the second book I read about business opportunities. However, unlike the previous book I review on this blog, this book contains valuable information about using new ways to not only earn extra revenue( increase your revenue) but also for ways to improve your business using the internet. Once I establish my business, I understand that it is important to consider new ways to increase my earnings and at the same time increase my customer base. This book covers this need in great detail. It claims to provide important insights about different web-based opportunities to increase your income, promote you business and enhance your brand recognition. It contains seven chapters discussing different areas of profitability potential for yourself and your business. I decided to share some of my thoughts and/observations about some of the chapters.Chapter 1: Blogging*I have a blog, so I thought I understood the importance of it and the potential. However, as I was reading this chapter, I thought, "wow! How did I not make the connection? Why didn't I think of that?". It really explains a blog can increase the visibility of your business even if you have a professional website for your business. This is a must read chapter, and one of my favorites.Chapter 2: Freelance*One of the main terms that I took from this chapter is "Cross Promotion". It explains how different freelance opportunities do not only can increase your earnings but also provide ways to promote your business.Chapter 3: Selling and reselling*This chapter builds on the idea of cross promotion and complementary strategies that can help you achive additional income and brand recognition. This are just a few chapters but I don't want to spoiled every insight included in the book for you. Other areas covered in the book include Online tutorials, Using Etsy, Fiverr and tutoring. I like the writing style and the organization of the book. While you get easily open the book at any chapter and read it individually with no particular order. I really liked that as I was reading each chapter the next would build on the previous and make reference to the general ideas and theme of the book. I made it easy to read and comprehend the material.Another area to highlight is that I really appreciated that a couple of the chapter include a small section explaining and giving us tips about how to value our digital product. It is nice and helpful to know in which occasions it is acceptable to charge a certain amount for your service or product.Overall, I am really pleased with the information provided and I am glad that I decided to read it. I learned about some new platforms to make money and new strategies about money making and promotion. Also, while the author mainly makes reference to the home building industry that ideas and strategies included in this chapter can be applied to other industries.*Note: This are not the complete titles of each chapter. I mainly picked a keyword from the actual title of each section.FTC - I received a discount for this product in exchanged for my honest and unbiased review. Helpful Information for Builders By Christine I was hoping that this book would have more information in regards to making money online in general, but I was wrong. I am a co-owner of a very new website where our income is based on ads and affiliate links. I was hoping to learn additional ways of creating income for our business, but this book really has very little helpful information unless you are in the building industry. What I can say is that if you are, in fact, a builder, this book would be wonderful for you. It has a lot of great ideas when it comes to blogging, selling used items, advertising, materials, creating digital products, making new opportunities, using Etsy and Fiverr, etc. I am giving this book four stars because, although it may not be ideal for me, others may find the information highly beneficial.I received this product for free or at a highly discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. All statements made are 100% my own based on my personal experiences with this product.

The book is written by author Ralph Slaske and can be purchased on Amazon. The book has great ideas for bloggers or those who sell items online. There are also many other great ideas in the book Builders' Guide to Making Money Online. The book doesn't take long to read, but is full of useful information. Once I began reading it I couldn't put it down. Since I already blog I'm now going to focus on selling some of these things I have laying around I no longer need or have use for. I was sent this product in exchange for my honest review.
