I was born on a very cold winter night in a crude pioneer log cabin just two months after Dad quickly build it in 1930 on the shore of a big lake in an isolated part of Alaska. Then I grew up in this beautifully rugged, but often difficult, land; and gained that “feminine as a rusty fishhook” reputation by doing many man-type jobs. However, time would show I still did ok with the boys; and this story extends past my early years. It was nice when the lake was frozen over and lots of snow on the ground so we could ice skate and ski; all right there near our home. What fun! But winter also meant using my own dog team and working a trap line starting at age eleven. Summers meant lots more work to help with fishing and freighting; but there was also the fun of boating, swimming, hiking, and all kinds of wild berries to pick. Our family were all fully Bible-based Christians; so Bible-study with prayer gave us comfort and help during many trying times and tragedies. It also made our social life more interesting, and drew many in need of help to our home. It was such a comfort through it all, to know that God was on our side.

This new perspective has helped me to let go of the anger and resentment that I've held for many years. It also helped me appreciate the relationships I have and want to be a better wife, mother, employee and overall a better person.This was a quick read, but I read it over the course of a few weeks, as the author poses questions throughout the book and I took time to reflect on these questions about my own experiences. I enjoy that the author shares her own experiences and those of clients (as a life coach). I also enjoyed that the chapters are broken up by different types of relationships (family, friends, work, pets, etc), not focusing on only one type of relationship.Great read for anyone and I have recommended it to many of my friends and family, as we all could use a more positive perspective on life!

I would call this the thinking person's guide to understanding why we repeat certain mistakes over and over in our lives. I was delighted by the intelligence and breadth of this approach. I often buy self-improvement books, and then don't read them after a chapter or two -- not because their message isn't valuable, but because the book just basically bores me. Not this one, because the author not only makes it relevant, but shares a lot about her own personal (and professional) background. This will be one of the books I refer to over and over, and will eventually end up reading again a few years from now. I find good sense and inspiration on every page, and I highly recommend it.Five stars!

By Richard Hopkins "Why I Chose You" is a beautifully written book that helped me understand and process family dynamics, life choices and how family and friends greatly impact our decisions and journey in life. This great read showed me how to heal and use past hurts to positively impact my own life & others. I highly recommend any person buy this book because it's an investment in bettering yourself. I received the best life-coach experience from this author and life coach, Lisa Thal, just reading this book. I couldn't put it down and finished it in 2 hours. This book explores common childhood frustrations, acknowledges the feelings, and helps point the way toward coping. The difficulties are everyday occurrences such as ice cream melting or legs getting scraped, not large-scale tragedies, so the tone remains optimistic throughout. Not every situation will resonate with every child, but the premise of looking for the positive has universal appeal. The book design and cheerful, exuberant pictures carry out the theme. A color-saturated full page describes the problem, along with a single page illustration. The "problem" spread leads to a two-page image celebrating a constructive outcome. For example, in the sandwich section, the text reads, "It's sad to drop your sandwich in the sand…but it will make some seagulls very happy." The illustration shows that another child split her own undropped sandwich and shared, helping children understand that sometimes they have to look further for a solution. Adults can forget how things that seem small to them can be significant in a child's world. The warm tone of this story is a reassuring reminder to children that a situation can be bad, but they will be okay. The simple design leaves room for exploration, writing, and discussion as children could think of something that happened to them and remember or imagine a way to handle it. This a great simple book that illustrates that life has struggles By amanda This a great simple book that illustrates that life has struggles, but that you can make it through with a change of attitude. It's a light hearted book, that kids understand and relate to easily. I had the little one's raising their hand throughout saying "Oh that's happen to me". I use this with kids to teach them ways to reframe their thinking and promote positive thoughts and attitude.

He lost his balloon few weeks ago and he had mentioned it so many times. He is now happy that his grandma saw it. The rest of the stories are pretty good too.
