The authors adopted this cub pack and protected them in a natural reserve, observing and photographing them over six years. In addition to gaining insights about wolves, readers see how important an "upstander" can be to a victim of bullying—even in nature. The story is simple but works on many levels, and the photographs are stunning. The authors also provide background on their research and offer additional resources about wolves and bullying. By Thomas Dunne This is a wonderful book about a family of wolves in Idaho, which focuses on the wolf known as Lakota and how he was bullied by the pack until he is befriended by a special wolf named Matsi.The book is beautifully written and designed and is illustrated with stunning photos of the wolves.Although the story is about wolf behavior, it naturally plays into bullying in schools and, when I read the book to my class, the pupils immediately identified with Lakota and saw how important it is to have a good friend in your corner.I would heartily recommend the book to any parent or school as its a clever way in to the topic of bullying as well as informing children about the similarities between wolf and human behavior.

I had seen the documentary online and when I discovered there was a children's book, I had to have it. You can view the documentary on You Tube. I would just search Wolf documentary and the author's name. Anyway, my son carried that book around for a week showing just about everyone. Wolves are his favorite animal though so that does have some to do with it.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Great little book! 5 dinos. 6 sounds. Batteries replaceable. By Sir This is a great little book. It features five dinosaurs, each with a couple facts and a textured area that you press on to hear that dinosaur's roar. You have to press firmly in the middle of each area to trigger the sound, so if you have a little one like my 15 month who loves this book, it will take a little time to master. Probably the reason the book is recommended for ages 3 and up. I also love that you can replace the batteries (3 x 1.5V AG10) so the book isn't trash when they run out like some other books I have. The battery compartment is on the back of the book and can be opened with a small screwdriver. The holes that the speaker plays through are also on the back of the book, so the sound will be somewhat muffled if they are covered. Dinosaurs and textures are as follows:Tyrannosaurus Rex - metallic scales (can also be accessed through hole in front cover)Stegosaurus - corrugated cardboardPterodactyl - nappy feltDiplodocus - imitation leatherTriceratops - mirrored dotsAll dinosaurs together (a sounds play in sequence) - no texture, just a circle containing a musical noteI'll definitely be buying the other books in this serious based on this purchase.

It has good pictures and the sounds are fun (some reviews complain about the sounds not being correct, if you read the words that describe the sound they are right, just not what you expect them to be). My only complaint is the area to press is big compared to the precise noise button and my grandson has problems finding the button sometimes. He knows that area makes the sound, but can't always hit the spot. Some of them require a firmer pressure than his little finger can make so he will take my finger and try to press it.

But aside from Noisy Farm, the other books don't seem as loud.My son (who is one) can press most of the buttons just fine. A few are harder for him to push.Some of the areas are pretty big and you have to push right in the middle to make it work.I like the books though.

Each story has a lesson that kindles the true spirit of Christmas. Reading these tales during the Christmas season will definitely become a family tradition in my home.

My little boy loves to listen to these stories as he goes to sleep at night (the narrator's voice has that soothing, friendly quality) and I enjoy listening while going about my day. These are the kinds of stories that make you realize that the Christmas spirit should be kept alive all year long.
