I knew the illustrations would be perfection but the paper quality is wonderful. It is very white, thick and fairly smooth. I have used Prisma Premier colored pencils and they did beautifully. THIS book also features quotes from the story line with many of the illustrations so it be a wonderful gift for a mother or grandparent to color and pass down to their family! The cover is very heavy and has shiny gold metallic highlights and lettering. The cover also is colorable and features two large fold out flaps on both the back and front...the inside of the cover has beautiful illustrations also. I don't mean to say that the "cover" is separate...it is the book itself. I think anyone would be very pleased and actually surprised with the quality feel and appearance of this book once it is in your hands! I am super pleased!

Beautiful coloring book based on original artwork of Lewis Carol book – printed on both sides of non-perforated paper By iiiireader [[VIDEOID:c262dcfa7ca340000ae77f2775534e4]]This is a beautiful coloring book which presents “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” in a wonderful way – embracing both the oldest illustrations (apart from this Lewis Carol did himself for a very limited audience) and new and modern images which are all married together to create a new way of looking at an old favorite. I think it is perfect that this new book is published by essentially the same publishing house, Macmillan, who first published the book in the 1800's. The same illustrations by Sir John Tenniel are used, too, along with quotes from the book. While most of the designs involve the characters, there are a number of “wallpaper” type designs. In this book, I actually enjoy those as much as they have chosen to use characters in a fresh and fun way to create these repetitive designs. The coloring book is well made with flaps on the front and back of the attached cover with coloring opportunities on all sides. The paper of the cover is slick, so you might have to choose medium carefully for those areas. The cover has a partially colorized version of Alice but the rest of the cover is done in black and red on white with touches of beautiful gold foil. The designs are printed on both sides of the heavyweight non-perforated paper with many designs spanning across two pages. The binding is sewn rather than glued which means you can remove multiple pages by snipping through a few threads. In my book, the pages line up well, so I will not be removing pages from the book. I find that lining the two page designs up after removing them becomes very difficult.I test my coloring books with a wide variety of mediums which I will list in the comments section of this review. I went back and performed the exact same tests on both the US and UK versions to be able to give a proper comparison. All of my alcohol-based markers bled through this paper. My water-based markers were mixed with fine tips leaving color shadows but ultra-fine not bleeding through. India ink pens did not bleed through either. Gel pens did not bleed through but bigger nib pens did require extra drying time. My coloring pencils worked excellently with this paper. The soft core went on thick with great coverage. They blended, layered, and burnished well. The hard lead pencils made good precise lines and did not dent through to the back of the page.Much as I enjoy using alcohol-based markers, I won't be using them in this book. I will use a mix of water-based markers, gel pens and coloring pencils so that I can color every page of the book. If you want to use alcohol-based markers, they look great on the page but you will be sacrificing the backside of page you are working on.Comparison between US and UK version of this coloring book:The books weight essentially the same, with the UK version weighing 1.11 pounds and the US version weighing 1.10 pounds. They are the same size at 11 x 8 15/16 x 3.8 inches. The images are all the same, though there are minimal cropping differences between the two but nothing that makes a huge difference. The one real item of note that is different between the two is that the paper the UK copy is printed on is a fairly bright white. The US version is printed on an off-white shade. The inside of the cover of the UK version has black line printing on white and the US is white on an almost cream color. Also, the copyright page is different, of course.Coloring medium worked as well for both versions of the coloring book. All in all, unless the color of the paper makes a big difference to you, I don't see any reason to prefer one book over the other. I would be happy with either book. I purchased the UK version long before there was a pre-order of the US version available otherwise, I probably would have waited to see the quality of and been extremely happy with the US version.

The illustrations are AMAZING, great quality paper and print. I'm a huge Alice fan and had high hopes for this book but no where near the level of its greatness.

Perfect Holiday Gift and a Book You Will Read Over&Over Again- It Never Gets Old By Eve I couldn't think of a better timing to read this book and my first thought was "EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ IT". After we are done buying turkeys and sweet potatoes, running around buying gifts, trees, and decorations, and just simply rushing thru life, spending every minute of it to accomplish more, to make more, to get better and more expensive things, we need to stop or at least slow down.In our race for something in life we forget the true meaning of simple words like LOVE, HONESTY, APPRECIATION, HELP.....We all forget to be grateful for simple things in life and realize how important it is to live every day like it would be our last. Live in a moment! This book with its short stories is like a little wakeup call for us to take a deep breath and to reflect on our life and those around us. Its' kind of a book that you will pick up over and over again when you need a break, when you need a little pick me up when you are down. This book with all the characters are real people like you and me, people who at some point in their lives came across a story or a person who made them realize what is really important in life. So read the book and I can guarantee you, you won't regret it and you will want to get this book for your friends and loved ones. Happy Reading!!! Carpe diem!

Jaye once again takes the reader through an emotional trip touching on ones heart strings of love, romance, nostalgia, sadness, joy, hope, inspiration and human compassion. In writing about the bonding of a father and daughter, stories of childhood best friends, high school attachments, even strangers who touched each others lives without meeting. These stories along with the constant underlying message of the passage of time in regards to various relationships in our lives has to open ones eyes to their own mortality and what each individual person has experienced on their own personal level. I know for myself it made me sit down with my wife of 43 years and look at old pictures going back to our school days and reminisce about the people we encountered and of our lives together. Thank you Jaye for a wonderful and emotional look back at our lives.

Gems of wisdom By Sherry Fundin The cover is beautiful and leads you into the seventeen short stories of life and love.Travel through life - not necessarily to places but to times and memories.Love Travels Forever - the opening story, sums up the collection.Valentines Day - holds a special surprise and has a special meaning for Jaye.Life is Too Short For Regrets - as Cassie said, "Admit it, get over it and get on with it."Halloween Man - put a smile on my face and made me feel warm and fuzzy.Packed With A Promise - I fought to read the words through the blur of tears in my eyes. What Might Have Been - why she wrote The Possibilities of Amy.The Angels of Ellis Island - The angels do make this a true Thanksgiving story.Middle Age Crazy - now what? In youth we think we are invincible and are allowed to make mistakes and have fun. Then mid-life crisis - where we make adjustments to find out where we want to go and how to get there.A Gift From the Mayans - superb ending to a captivating collection.5 STARS - Would Buy It For Them (lol)Full of gems of wisdom."Mary Ann Evan, writing as George Eliot, "The strangest principle of growth lies in human choice."The stories are full of choices people made. The choices we make don't always make sense to others, but are so vital to us! Will make you feel good about your life, or maybe let you know you need to change it.Sometimes the most important things are the little things.Packed full of love, life, emotion, tears, happiness, smiles, heartbreak, warm and fuzzy, kindness, compassion, hope and giving. Moving, touching, beautiful, poignant stories.Be sure to be alone, with your hanky or tissue and take time to think about what you read as you travel on Jaye's wonderful voyage through life. This is a book you will want to pull out again and again to read this story or that story. Not necessarily front to back. Excellent. Must have. With so many examples of the generosity and kindness of strangers, this is the perfect time of year to give this as a gift.I received this book in exchange for a fair and impartial review.Love Travels Forever

What’s So Special About Special Education is a short, practical, realistic guide for teachers in special education—particularly those working with children with severe disabilities—to more effectively communicate with classroom parents. It is written from the perspective of a veteran special education teacher and mother of a child with severe disabilities, who often mentored new teachers seeking advice about how to deal with their student’s parents. The book offers teachers information about how to communicate with parents and form a partnership that will make the classroom experience more effective and the teacher’s job easier. It covers things every special ed teacher needs to know to succeed in this challenging field, and offers a view from both sides of the IEP. This information is often not taught in teacher training courses, but it is essential for teachers struggling with the many facets of their students’ disabilities. Parents and other school professionals will benefit from this book, and may find it helpful to give it to their students’ teachers. It is a useful handbook for in-service or for reading before IEPs and the beginning of every school year.

It helps teachers understand the unique challenges of SPECIAL parenting, and helps parents understand that they need to help the teachers learn about their special kiddos challenges at home, and how that affects school. This book should be in every school!!!

By RosaLee Mitchell I am a former educator who worked a lot with parents of my students-- from preschool through high school in varied settings, over my 30-year career. My students included many who had special needs, and every one of them presented unique challenges. I read this book through in an evening, and found it easy to read and also not in the least tedious or boring. Rather, it held my interest well, as I could relate the solid substance to my own experiences with children and their parents, and I liked the uplifting tyle and tone as well. Any time you have a perspective offered from someone who understands firsthand the challenges of both parents and teachers, you have a gem. The author of this book clearly speaks from the heart as well as giving so much helpful information. Read it, and keep as a reference or pass it on. It's a winner!

By Amazon Customer As a retired teacher of young children with severe disabilities, I found Mrs. McBrine's book to be an excellent and highly effective resource for both special education teachers and for parents of our students with the most profound needs. I would have so benefited by having had this book at my disposal when I was teaching and would absolutely have made it available-with high recommendation-to the parents of my students. This book would be a great text at the college level for aspiring special educators!

The Dragon and the Apprentice: A Wizard's Wager (Book One of the Chronicles of Sir John the Worm 1), by Sully Tarnish

Review "If you despaired that the loss of Sir Terry meant the end of scrumptious fantasy humor that is smart and witty, despair no more! Sully Tarnish (and what a delightful name, I must say) has put pen to paper and given us another world to fall in love with.  I cannot wait to see what comes next!" - Kindle reviewer   "Sir John, our loquacious hero (and dragon), who has never in recent memory been known to have misspoken, is a veritable lexicon of English diction. He will undoubtedly have a spot reserved for him at the Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland where his utterances will be recorded and live on in perpetuity... it seems only fitting." - Kindle reviewer"Sully Tarnish must somehow be the progeny of Terry Pratchett, Terry Gilliam and Douglas Adams! Don't be a wazzum, grab a flagon of sack and lose yourself in a glorious fantasy yarn!" - Kindle reviewer"A light-hearted fantasy romp. Well-written and good fun." - Kindle reviewer"If you're into proper dragons, eccentric wizards and a basketful of hare-brained ideas, then grab a copy of The Dragon and the Apprentice." - Kindle reviewer"A fun, tongue in cheek, sword and sorcery tale that displays the essence of the true British, 'stiff upper lip' mentality. Fair play above all and chivalry for the common (and uncommon) man... so long as it meets with your ultimate objectives." - Kindle reviewer"It's entertaining, humorous and outrageous, brimming with action, heroes and brave hearts." - Kindle reviewer "While it could safely be said that the plot is as silly as anything dreamed up by Monty Python, with only the barest thread joining scene to scene, one may find it is here that author Tarnish finds his niche: mirth, anarchy, and erudition all twirled together in an amalgam of witty banter, verbal gags and visceral tomfoolery." - Kindle reviewer

About the Author Sully Tarnish, the author of The Dragon and the Apprentice, believes in dragons. Born in August 1961 at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge England, young Sully grew up following his father, the world famous explorer Sir Edward Tarnish, around the world. That is until Sir Edward's head was shrunk during an expedition in Papua New Guinea. Having no choice but to return to Cambridge, the grieving Sully quickly discovered his first love -- herpetology. Later, he became a reptile psychic of some renown. But while exploring Lost John's Cave in Leck Fell, Lancashire, Sully stumbled upon an ancient tome that would become his life's work: The Chronicles of Sir John the Worm Wizardslayer, a history of England's greatest dragon knight. Ever since, Sully Tarnish has traveled the world in search of dragons. Translated from Old English by Sully, The Dragon and the Apprentice, is the first chapter in the later history of Sir John the Worm Wizardslayer. When Sully Tarnish isn't searching for dragons, he lives in New York City with his cat, Mr. Underfoot.

Lighthearted fairytale fun By Kindle Customer "The Dragon and the Apprentice " written by Sully Tarnish.Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. As I warned Mr. Tarnish at the time, I call them like I see them. I quite liked this novel and I recommend it if you're in the mood for a lighthearted funny fantasy. I found the "Dragon and the Apprentice", to be a very lighthearted, YA in feeling, fantasy novel. The characters are fun and engaging and center around a dragon known as Sir John the Wizards Slayer, and his arch nemesis a human Wizard named Palomides. They each have a small cast of supporting characters, which are well-developed, lighthearted and fun. The story starts with the duels fought between the Wizard and the Dragon, and how due to an unlikely series of events they find themselves so well matched that eventually they decide that it is their apprentices who must one day dual for their ultimate supremacy. But there is a catch. The Dragon must choose a human apprentice, while the Wizard must choose a dragon apprentice. And so the hilarity begins. This is book one of what is clearly going to be a three or perhaps four part series; this first novel deals with introducing the individuals and building the medieval/ fantasy/ knights in armor/ wizards and dragons, world. And it works. And the humor! When I first started reading it – those first three pages, I fully expected to be bored and not finish it. (Due to its fairytale feeling.) While this book is absolutely acceptable for a YA audience, Sully makes excellent use of his thesaurus and dictionary, causing me on several occasions to reach for my own to pick up the nuances of what his characters were doing. In summary, let me say this: Sully Tarnish has clearly written much before and this is not a first effort. The editing is excellent and I found no typos, or bad construction throughout. ( Extremely unusual even for a well-established writer.) The characters are fun and engaging, and due to both their circumstances and their actions there is much humor. I enjoyed it and if you're looking for something lighthearted and fun I would certainly recommend "The Dragon and the Apprentice" by Sully Tarnish.

Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The Dragon and the Apprentice by Sully Tarnish is sure to delight readers of all ages. It’s a whimsical tale with robust characters and a plot full of shenanigans. The story takes place in the English countryside, in the time of knights and kings, of course, which lends a magical backdrop to the tale. The characters are highly likable, and you can’t help but giggle at their constant need for to be proper, even when scheduling duels. The story follows the rocky friendship of Sir John the dragon and Palomides and their never-ending desire to best each other during their annual contest. The result of one such battle leads them to make a most unusual wager. The rest of the story follows them on their quest to find the perfect apprentices, though not without difficulties. While the plot is entertaining, it’s the characters that drew me into the story. Sir John the dragon, with the help of his trusted companion Squire Shallow, cause plenty of chaos all over the countryside, with finesse, good manners, and a plethora of high-brow vocabulary. No matter what the dragons’ may be up to, Squire Shallow ensures that the proper rules of conduct are adhered to, as they are sensible dragons. Palomides is the most unusual wizard I have ever encountered, being fashionable, over-confident, and resourceful. He has a knack of using unorthodox methods of accomplishing his goals, which can sometimes get him into trouble. All of the characters, both major and minor, added to the whimsy and snarky touch that makes this story so delightful.I will confess, I’ve left out much about this story so that I don’t spoil it for anyone but trust me you will love it! If you’re into proper dragons, eccentric wizards and a basketful of hare-brained ideas, then grab a copy of The Dragon and the Apprentice. However, be forewarned, the book ends with a cliffhanger of sorts, and I am happily waiting for the next installment.

Heart Wrenching/ Heart Warming By Double Eagle Design I uploaded this tremendous story to my Kindle thinking I'd read it over the next several days of travel. Wrong. I read it in several hours of the first NIGHT of travel. I simply could NOT put down this incredible, frank account of one child in need and a family's following God's lead to help. It's a humbling story in the sense, you MUST ask yourself at the end: What more should I be doing, Father? Do WE as a family get so sidetracked being US we miss the needy, the heartbroken right in front of or beside of us?The Scriptures given in the book felt like an old, worn favorite blanket... Verses I've heard my entire Christian life, memorized in most instances long ago... but reading them in this context was both refreshing and challenging. Thank You, Jesus!Ellen writes in such an endearing way, she feels like a long time friend/soul sister. I am challenged today to JOURNAL my thoughts and my walk with my Sweet Lord more consistently because of her, and I WILL look at others DIFFERENTLY. As Mother Teresa said, it is through prayer that we will receive the grace to see others with this new mind of Jesus. Thanks to Ellen Huntington, for this precious reminder. You'll be in my prayers forever.

I have read few stories that feel as real and genuine as "Who Cried for the Little Boy?" As Ellen allows us to enter her world, we experience the joy, heartbreak, and frustration of trying to love the "unlovable." What makes this story so special is the fact that Ellen acknowledges her imperfections as well as the reality of her situation. Although she knows that a perfect fairy-tale ending is almost certainly out of reach, she continues to move forward and place her faith in God, even when she doesn't understand His plan. Ellen's struggle is a moving testament of the power of God's call and presence in the lives of His followers.

My only question is: where is Josh at in his life now? I hope and pray he can somehow find peace in his life -- as a survivor of sexual assault as a child, I know that peace is so hard to come by, and I've somehow been able to find mine after more than 30 years as a survivor. Josh has made some unfortunate choices in his life, and I'm sure this book was a challenging experience for Ellen, but one that was well worth the effort.
