About the Author Dee is a psychotherapist with a master s degree in counseling and psychological services, and she holds a Georgia license as a professional counselor. She is also a certified dance therapist, which means she has training in the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration of individuals ... which really just means that in writing about the physical aspects of emotions, about body awareness and breath, she knows what she s talking about and has a credential to prove it. Having written essays, musical plays, and screenplays, she started writing this book to help herself navigate the emotional hurdles in the online dating process. After four months, she met John. John is a visual artist, and the designs in this book are his. He has degrees in art and industrial design. After his divorce, he found himself fighting loneliness. He joined Toastmasters. He dug through the library, studying the neuroscience of social connection. He interspersed traditional dating with online dating, which, of course, broadens substantially the pool of possibilities. He found that meeting more people helped him better define who he was looking for. By the time he met Dee, he had a system: Be sincere in your profile so you ll find someone who gets you. Prefer real-life experiences, and so meet in person soon. Relax, because the more people you meet, the more likely you are to find a good fit. Dee and John turned out to be a good fit. They are both three-dimensional thinkers and creative types. They do yoga together. Kathy is a writer of children s books and country-western songs. Her BA is in journalism, and she has written for newspapers, television, and magazines. Like John, she has had a lot of experience with online dating. She would dabble in it here and there over the years, but for her the whole process would periodically seem more stressful than it was worth, and she d stop. Hearing from Dee about the ideas for this book, she joined the writing team. She felt she needed a book that approached the online dating journey as a spiritual one. Also, Kathy used to work for the FBI, and she offers helpful tips on safety in the use of Internet dating formats.

The increasing complexity of the IT value chain and the rise of multi-vendor supplier ecosystems has led to the rise of Service Integration and Management (SIAM) as a new approach. Service Integration is the set of principles and practices, which facilitate that collaborative working relationships between service providers required to maximize the benefit of multi-sourcing. Service integration facilitates the linkage of services, the technology of which they are comprised and the delivery organizations and processes used to operate them, into a single operating model. SIAM is a relatively new and fast evolving concept. SIAM teams are being established in many organizations and in many different sectors, as part of a strategy for (out)sourcing IT services and other types of service. This is the first book that describes the concepts of SIAM. It is intended for: * ITSM professionals working in integrated multi-sourced environments; * Service customer managers, with a responsibility to secure the business supply of IT services in a multi-sourced environment; * Service provider delivery managers with a responsibility to integrate multiple services to meet the demands of the customers' business and users; * Service provider managers with responsibilities to manage integrated services, participating in a multi-sourced environment.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Useful for getting to grips with this huge topic, recommended By Peter Thomas I purchased this through Google Books, but thought it worthwhile to put in a review. This is a huge topic, it's great to see common sense, practical experience and the available best practice models bought together to help.Graphics were a bit simple but hey...My only other concern is that common sense and good strategies as articulated here could be mistaken for a licence to "consult" you to death.I have worked in multi-sourced IT service delivery, IT management and architecture on both sides of the "fence" for over 20 years and it is fraught with misconceptions, overpromising and what I think is the general immaturity of IT and lack of business and IT management training, this current movement seems to be in response to those chickens coming home to roost in large corporates. This book will provide tools and ideas for those grappling with the issues. Encouraging, leading and cajoling organisations up the IT maturity curve within the context of changing customer expectations, new technology and outdated sourcing arranagements is our biggest challenge. This will help and provide a practical perspective. (Assuming of course that you can get the dollars for a non IT delivery project as this seems to be the glue to long term success.)Cultural and objective focussed changes, sourcing contracts, development and portfolio management changes, delivery management, tooling and vendor coordination all while dealing with disparate agendas, wow, good luck everybody. I am sure you will find this foray into the territory of SIAM very informative..

Looks Like A Good Book However Is NOT The FIRST Book On SIAM By Amazon Customer This book covers the multi-sourcing in a decent way but then this is what Supplier Management, Multi-Supplier Integration (MSI) and Service Management Integration (SMI) has been focusing on. SIAM has to go beyond that and must address the business needs around service management as a whole. It cannot restrict to IT service management. However I disagree with the claim that this is the first book on SIAM.This is not the FIRST book on SIAM. "Making SIAM Work - Adopting Service Integration And Management For Your Business" is the first book on SIAM. The FIRST book on SIAM is available at:http://www.amazon.com/Making-SIAM-Work-Integration-Management/dp/819204338X

Oskar and the Eight Blessings, by Tanya Simon, Richard Simon

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2—On the seventh day of Hanukkah in 1938, which also happens to be Christmas Eve, a young refugee boy named Oskar arrives in New York City from the horrors of Nazi Europe with only a photograph and an address to find an aunt he has never meet. As Oskar walks the length of Manhattan, from the Battery to his aunt's home in the north end of the city, he passes and encounters the city's many holiday sights and residents. Each person he meets offers Oskar a small act of kindness, such as the newsstand man who gives Oskar a Superman comic book. Each encounter is a reference to an event which took place in the city in 1938. A constant for Oskar is remembering his father's last words, "Oskar, even in bad times, people can be good. You have to look for the blessings." The majority of illustrations are presented in variously sized panels that move the story along, with inserts of long panel illustrations that serve as a glimpse of Oskar's experiences. VERDICT A wonderful, heartwarming picture book for any library at any time of year.—Diane Olivo-Posner Los Angeles Public Library

And inside of 40 pages, it somehow manages to introduce and explain World War 2, Count Basie, Superman, and Eleanor Roosevelt. I know...I know...nothing about what I just said screams "Kids will love it!" but that's the amazing feat the author and artist pull off. Already in my list of 10 best picture books of 2015.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Even in bad times, people can be good. You have to look for the blessings. By White Fang "Oskar and the Eight Blessings" is a wonderful children's Christmas and Hannukkah historical fiction hardback book measuring 9 by 11 inches. The book has a beautiful full color pictorial cover and matching dust jacket. The dust jacket will hook the attention of the reader as they stare at Oskar's big hazel doe eyes and the expression on his face. Readers will want to find out why Oskar has this expression and what he is doing in a city of giant skyscrapers. The colors used by the illustrator on the cover/dust jacket and the individual page illustrations are mostly grays, browns, and blacks. These colors help to convey the feeling of loneliness, coldness, and fear that a brand new refugee to New York might experience. Each page is heavily illustrated with limited amounts of texts - from a sentence or two to a brief paragraph. As one reads the book, they sense the fear, despair and uneasiness in Oskar as he arrives in a strange and unknown New York City in the year 1938. It is the seventh day of Hannukkah and it was also Christmas Eve. As Oskar walks over a hundred blocks on Broadway to get to his aunt's house, he encounters various persons who show kindness to him. Oskar remembered his father's last words, "Oskar, even in bad times, people can be good. You have to look for the blessings." Oskar experiences the goodness of men's hearts and not only looks for blessings but receives various blessings on his way to his aunt's house. The book opens with some allusion to "The Night of Broken Glass" or "Kristallnacht" with no explanantion. The non-Jewish reader encounters two other words with no explanantion - "shamash" and "nigundl". At first, the reader may think that the author should have explained these terms but at the conclusion of the story, the reader finds background information and definitions of these terms. An interesting two page spread of a map of 1938 Manhattan showing Oskar's trek of over a hundred cty blocks is also included at the back of the book.I highly recommend this book for children and adults. Not only does one get a new appreciation of immigrants and their feelings in a new world, but the true spirit of Christmas and appreciation and awareness of blessings is also portrayed in this wonderful book. Caution - do not allow the fact that this is a children's picture book deter you from experiencing this awesome book -- older youth and even adults will enjoy the book. This book is suitable for both Jewish and Christian families to read during the holidays.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Perfect gift for Hanukkah or Christmas- sure to be a classic! By BrittyMama Oskar is a young Jewish refugee who comes to America to escape the Nazis. Suddenly finding himself in a new country with a new culture (most of the city is preparing for Christmas) he remembers his father's wise words: "Oskar, even in bad times, people can be good. You have to look for the blessings." As he journeys to his Aunt Esther's house by foot he focuses on the blessings he encounters that make up his first impression of his new home. His optimism is admirable at a time when there was a lot that could have brought him down. This book is wonderful. It truly has the makings to become a Holiday classic. The story is engaging, realistic, and has a dark but "feel good" vibe to it. The illustrations really bring the story to life in the format of the paneled pages- it was set up almost like a movie. At a time when the world is a mess, this book is a much needed glimmer of hope. The Bear's Surprise, by Benjamin Chaud

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2—Words are barely (bearly?) necessary when the illustrations are so entrancing. Baby Bear awakes on a Spring day and finds Papa missing. He sets off searching for him through the forest, into a cave, through a set of pipes, and up to the entrance of a circus tent, where it turns out that Papa is performing high-flying feats of daring. Naturally, Baby Bear joins in and sails into the air only to land on Mama. And what's that Mama is holding in her lap? Welcome, Teeny Tiny Bear! The different landscapes provide varied arenas for Chaud's crowded pen-and-ink cartoons with the sort of amusing details that will endlessly occupy a certain type of three-year-old's attention. In this third installment of Baby Bear's adventures, the fun is enhanced by die-cuts in an assortment of shapes. Familiarity with the previous books is not essential, but it won't hurt, either. VERDICT Make room on your shelves for this oversize entertainment.—Miriam Lang Budin, Chappaqua Library, NY

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. building up to a beautifully simple page of mama By Cptn Redbeard This dreamy book has little bear searching for papa bear discovering parts of the forest he's never seen before and ultimately finding his mama, papa, and a new baby bear. The illustrations are chaotic and detailed throughout little bear's journey, building up to a beautifully simple page of mama, little, and a new baby bear alone on the moon.My toddler is obsessed. We read this book twice a day. I love getting lost in the pictures and finding the silly visual gags, foreshadowing, and stories within the story. My boy loves the cut-outs and tracing little bear's journey. Like the rest of the bear books by Benjamin Chaud, this is a must have.

The Bear's Song is truly wonderful, and the subsequent books (including this third one, The Bear's Surprise) are all up to par as well. My 2 year old is obsessed with searching for Little Bear on each page, and the book is really beautifully illustrated - my husband and I frequently get lost in the book as well, searching through all the creative landscapes and orchestrated scenes to pick out the funny little nuances. The stories are great, and I love how they spark a sense of adventure and exploration. Just my opinion, but these children's books are timeless. I know when he is too old to enjoy them anymore, I will put them away in a safe place to give to him one day to share with his own children.

I just purchased this one for my three-year old nephew who recently became a big brother (for which this story is perfect). Along with the fun tale of adventure, the drawings in this book are well done and original. There's so much going on that when I read it I'll ask my nephew to locate various things-- a fox, an elephant, etc... so it can be an interactive game along with story. In the first book, The Bear's Song, we looked for Little Bear on every page. The books are larger then most children's books, which is also nice. The first two books, The Bear's Song and The Bear's Sea Escape focus on the relationship between Little Bear and Papa Bear; in The Bear's Surprise more of the family is introduced.
