A number-one best seller in women's detective fiction!

Homeless, mistreated, and tired of making up the difference for her alcoholic mother, a 15-year-old girl from the foothills of North Carolina leaves home with no destination in mind - she just wants to get away from the crushing burden of abuse and unwanted responsibility.

Thanks to the kindness of a stranger, she finds herself in Nashville, Tennessee, with a place to live and a job at a local café. She develops a sense of belonging at the café, and her coworkers and customers become her family. One of the regulars at the café is fascinated by this young girl, never suspecting that one day she will change his life completely - both as a music mogul and as a man.

Twenty-five years later, two detectives arrive in Nashville for much the same reason - to escape a repressive past and begin a new future. When they open their doors for business, to their surprise, one of their first customers is the reigning "queen of Nashville" - one of Nashville's longstanding megastars, who places her past in their hands and trusts them to keep her secrets. Will they be able to solve the mysteries of her life? Will they be able to protect her good name and reputation in the process?

Music City was just such a novel. From the very beginning I was absorbed into Shelly Shepard’s world. Her painful past, and the turn of events, that change her life with one choice. I especially loved Shelly’s straight talking no nonsense approach to trouble, while at the same time allowing the character to be loveable too. Leona Bryant has style of writing that allows you to connect to her characters immediately while providing rich details that leave the reader wanting more. A page-turner to be sure! I liked this book on so many levels. When I began reading this, I expected one book but got another. I wish more writers had this kind of talent to tell a story with such a strong narrative. I was so into the story, I kept telling myself…just one more chapter! I can’t wait for more books from this very gifted author. 5 Stars!

The tale of an abused child who becomes a Nashville super star is so engrossing that I couldn't stop reading or thinking about it (when I couldn't be reading). The author creates characters that are so compelling that you care about them and want them to find happiness. Her ability to intertwine several stories was impressive. The book is well plotted and extremely satisfying. She has a plot twist that took me completely by surprise. This story touched me. It had me alternately smiling and crying. I'm look forward to read more by this author. I loved Music City!

A Telling Tale of Rags to Riches By Amazon Customer Music City is a riveting, emotionally heart wrenching story of a young southern girl who embarks on a journey to flee the clutches of her alcoholic mother. A musically scored composition that inspires the inner hope in all of us. We all can relate with the breakdown of the family structure in our lives. The plot, storyline, and character development weaves through many twists and turns. The lead character, Shelly Shepard, begins her career with anonymity and propels herself to a huge musical entertainment success.Of course, very few people succeed in life without a bit of assistance. Shelly is no different. A stranger expectantly enters her destitute life and becomes the pivotal key to her rising stardom. Years later, at the pinnacle of her career, Shelly beckons her inner curiosity in an effort to discover the identity of the mysterious stranger who forever changed her life. The game is afoot, as you will walk through the eyes of the characters and private investigators hired to obtain the identity of the individual. The author delicately conducts the reader through a well-written masterpiece of mystery and mystique. You will be glad that you invested the time to unravel the surprising ending. No good deed goes unpunished! It is a novel that you simply cannot put down until the last page is turned. Worthy of a 5 star review!
