Dan Jackson is a 42-year-old father of three who started writing kids' books in 2014. This is the 2nd book of The Magical Zoo series. I can't wait to read them all.Tibby the Tiger was released by Sally in book one. Now Sally must once again team up with the zookeeper to bring all the animals back to the library. It if such a fun book and depending on the age of the child would be a easy read. I think this series will just keep getting better and better.I received this product for free in exchange for my unbiased and honest opinion.

But you'd never know it from the number of books he has produced - all of first quality. Though it has been a while since new books have poured out of him, Dan is changing that situation with this series of five books under the title THE MAGICAL ZOO.As with all of Dan’s books the stories and the accompanying illustrations are by the author. In this new series we meet Sally, a young girl twelve years of age in a library in Durham, North Carolina. Visiting often she is always accompanied by her cat Milkshake. The first book shared her discovery of a book out from which leapt many different kinds of animals. In this Book 2 the animal in question is Tibby the Tiger, one of those animals who escaped in Book 1. Now the hunt is on for Tibby the Tiger who is finally caught by zookeepers and placed in a cage – of books!More adventures to come as we see the route each of the escaped animals takes – and in the meantime we learn a lot about the behaviors of animals such as Tibby the Tiger. In the first story, we met our protagonist, Sally, a twelve year-old girl who loves the library and reading as much as her cat, Milkshake. We got to see that as soon as Sally read from this magical book, many zoo animals popped out and their zookeeper, John, wasn't far behind.This time around we get to see Sally and John in action trying to find and return Tibby the tiger. Tibby's very fast and very scared so he ends up outside in a tree. How can Sally, Milkshake and John the zookeeper get this big cat down from the tree? Read it for yourself to find out.Parents, teachers and young readers will enjoy reading this series to kids. The animals are described and even a small fact is given about them. The descriptions in this book paint a vivid picture of the scene and the characters that match up perfectly to the illustrations.The books don't contain any difficult or large words making it a perfect and easy chapter book for kids when you get the whole series!Disclosure: I received this book for free for review purposes. About the Author

Walter S. DeKeseredy is Anna Deane Carlson Endowed Chair of Social Sciences, Professor of Sociology, and Director of the Research Center on Violence at West Virginia University. He has published 19 books and more than 130 scientific journal articles and book chapters on violence against women and other social problems. DeKeseredy is the recipient of many prestigious awards. In 2008, the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma gave him the Linda Saltzman Memorial Intimate Partner Violence Researcher Award. He received the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s inaugural Research Excellence Award in 2007. In addition, he jointly received the 2004 Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology’s (ASC) Division on Women and Crime. ASC’s Division on Critical Criminology gave him the Critical Criminologist of the Year Award in 1995 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. In 2014, the Academy of Criminal Justice Science’s (ACJS) Critical Criminal Justice Section honored him with the Critical Criminal Justice Scholar Award.

Marilyn Corsianos is a Professor of Criminology and Sociology at Eastern Michigan University. Corsianos’s research interests include institutions of social control, public and private policing, and power and violence. She has studied the police in the United States and Canada focusing on police ethics and corruption, gender issues, detectives, discretionary powers, and community policing. She is committed to pursuing social change by identifying exclusionary practices in the production of knowledge, and identifying more equitable policing systems. She has published three books in addition to Violence Against Women in Pornography, including one on policing and gendered justice, which won a CHOICE Outstanding Title Award. In 2015, in recognition of her research, she received the prestigious Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty Award, which is the highest honor a faculty member can receive at Eastern Michigan University. In addition, she received the 2015 Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology's (ASC) Division on Women and Crime.

Foubert The time is right for the book Violence Against Women in Pornography, and Dr. Walter DeKeseredy is just the right person to write it. In it, DeKeseredy and his co-author Marilyn Corsianos provide an uncensored view into the practices in the making of pornography that are both violent to the women who act in porn, and encourage men to be violent toward women in 'real life.' I appreciate the depth of the literature that this book integrates into concise chapters. The writing is both scholarly and accessible. The authors provide a stinging, well researched, and thoughtfully presented indictment of the pornography industry and the harms it inflicts upon our society. If more people read books like this, our world would be a better place in which to live. This great book is yet another in the line of highly impactful pieces Dr. DeKeseredy provides to generate knowledge about how to attenuate the serious problem of violence in our society. Bravo Drs. About the Author Charmaine Thaner has been called a change–maker by parents, teachers, administrators and students. Her 30+ years of advocacy have changed her son, Dylan’s life and hundreds of students with disabilities so they may have richer, more inclusive lives. She was a special educator for 15 years, then became a general educator for 15 years and throughout her teaching career was committed to including students that were traditionally marginalized. After retiring she was the Education Specialist at PEAK Parent Center and an adjunct special education instructor at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Charmaine founded her own advocacy business, Collaborative Special Education Advocacy and has been advocating for families since 2009. She has attended countless IEP meetings, many facilitated IEP meetings and mediation sessions on behalf of students with disabilities. Her passion is to use her educational and personal perspectives to support parents and educators build collaborative relationships. By Amazon Customer Charmaine Thaner goes above and beyond her call...compassion for students and their parents is reflected in this Parent's Guide. The Art of Advocacy: A Parent's guide to a Collaborative IEP Process is very easy to read and understand. The many examples of conversations, scenarios, forms to download and conflicts make any parent feel secure and confident to move forward to advocate for their child successfully before and during the IEP meetings. I wish I would have had access to this guide during my child's earlier educational years, but it is never too late. I believe that the information in this guide can also be used to help your child self-advocate for their future years. I love the Art of Advocacy and can relate to the guide because of my personal experiences with the IEP process. By Lydia Avery How many people have no idea how to avoid negative relationships until they've experienced a bad one and escaped it? Wouldn't it be nice to have a tool kit to avoid those pitfalls from the start? "Red Flags" is an excellent guide for those wading into relationships with little or no experience and also for those stuck repeating negative relationships. I was taken with the clarity of Lorene D'Adam's voice and how easily this book could be used as a reference. I loved the way she shared enough of her story to make the book feel familiar, yet she had enough facts and sage advice to make it a legitimate piece work. It's also written in short usable chapters that can easily be accessed. I'd like to see this book handed out to all college, high school and even middle school children.

Johnson I know I'm repeating my first response from the first book Trouble Makers , but OMG! Again, another emotional rollercoaster to ride along with Katie and Tyler! This couple just breaks my heart with their emotionally crippling baggage of feeling like failures they carry deep inside themselves. Just as soon as one comes back up from the pit of doom the other has to hit bottom. The ending is pretty spectacular! I can't believe there is only one more to go in this series. I can't wait to read the finale of Tyler and Katie in Trouble Rising!

That only happens when you have an author like Ms. Rollins who knows how to write a book that takes you along for the ride with the characters of her book. I read this in one day which for me hardly ever happens. I couldn’t put it down because I felt so invested in Tyler and Katie.Tyler and Katie’s relationship was every fan girl’s dream; meet famous and sexy rock star, have an unforgettable night with him, and get asked to go on tour with him. Yes, then the bad parts come in with the drug use but Tyler and Katie never lost their way to each other. As you know from reading Trouble Makers (and if you haven’t read it…get to it, now along with all the other books in this series) Tyler and Katie both were battling their own demons and they were easily sucked into the world of addiction. It was what they did with their relationship after coming out on the other end after rehab that this story takes place.The problem with them was all of the secrets that Tyler was keeping and then you have to add in to it the guilt that Katie was feeling over what happened with Sabrina, her best friend and Rob Burns’ girlfriend. You have to read this to find out what all of these secrets were and what all the guilt was about. In the end were Katie and Tyler able to escape the road to relapse with all the turmoil they both went through? If Tyler can keep secrets is he actually telling Katie everything he is hiding? Can their relationship survive all of this even if they know how to please each other in and out of bed and is their love strong enough to pull them through all of the drama? I loved this book and cannot wait for Trouble Rising to come out. If you love rock romance books this is a definitely for you.This book was provided as an ARC from the author for an honest review.

I've never read a book about drugs before (do detective novels count?) so it was definitely new territory for me. And I enjoyed every terrifying, sappy 'oh my god' moment. It started out frighteningly enough, but I got so caught up in Katie's memories that I forgot how the whole thing started before she brought it back to that point. By then, I was anticipating the tear-jerkers as if I was watching a bloody crime show. This is the first book I've read from this author and series, so I'm not sure how old Katie is, but I found that it's a detail not at all important. Age doesn't defy pain or tragedy, and it certainly doesn't define one's maturity.Her roller coaster ride was seriously heady, and Rollins did an amazing job at emphasizing on the anxiety. The clear, thought out process and repeats on some things made not so subtle hints on things meant to be burned in the back of your mind, but I didn't mind them so much, because they served well as reminders for what was going on or had happened in the past four books.The ARC I received had a few errors in them, so it took away from my flow of reading. Rollins also has her own way of writing, with a lot of good details and thought processes that force you to slow down and actually take in what you're reading, so it took a bit of chapters for me to get into her flow, but once I did, the experience went from reading a book to watching something on HBO (inside joke). Her details make this story more of a mental view from Katie's POV, meaning there's less dialogue (than other mainstream novels) to tell the story and more of Katie's recollections, an almost autobio in story format. I didn't mind it, but again, it was something to get used to. It was well worth it.For a time I didn't think I'd recover from reading something with such dark subjects but I fell hard for Katie and Tyler's love. By Elizabeth Courtright I bought the first book in this series - Casting the First Stone, and enjoyed it so much I had to get this one right away. The characters drew me in so well, I just had to find out what happened next. This author has a way of making her characters come alive. I've very glad I read this. It's uplifting, suspenseful and thought provoking all in one. It's been several weeks since I read both of these books, and I still remember the storyline and characters very well--a sign of superior writing!
