Tawny is a woman working at bank, who is fired from her job when her slimy boss promotes someone else. She is forced to find a job outside her field when her former boss gives her poor recommendations. She applies at an event planner business and rapidly learns that the emphasis for all employees is family and living a balanced life. She panics during the interview when asked about her life outside of work, and lies about having a boyfriend. She tells her prospective boss, that her guy is her brother's best friend David. She and David are frenemies that clash about a lot, but he is happy to help get the new job, but attending a company function. As their fake relationship grows, feelings begin to develop between them. Will they get a happy ending or will they just be friends? This is a cute book that exemplifies the pretend relationship plot. Both of the main characters were stubborn and opinionated which lead to fun situations where they had to explain their relationship. It was a fun, light read that made me smile. I had no idea that this was the second in a series but it can be read standalone. This is a case of chemical attraction between the best friends of the first book. They choose not to act on it because they figure they will have to deal with their best friends when it goes south. And it will go south because David’s a confirmed bachelor and Tawny is working to get ahead. She comes from a traditional family that want her to find a man and settle down having babies. Not in her plans right now. I really like Tawny she is strong, smart and kind. David isn’t as big a jerk as he first appears. When Tawny is forced to quit her job she needs a “boyfriend” to nail down her new job. David is there and is hired (not really) to be her boyfriend. When one date turns into several and they discover the attraction isn’t just chemical things get fun. Everyone loves David and you will too.

Tawny and David are lovely as individual characters but together they are perfect. Complementing each other's strengths and supporting the other where they are weak. Both have had difficult childhoods in terms of acceptance and but still value family in spite of everything. Though everything starts out with friendship and neither of them looking for commitment, it soon becomes clear how much they need each other to balance out their lives.Really looking forward to book 3Free copy provided in exchange for an honest review
